Inexpeirenced

So I have to admit I know nothing about Atv’s but i’m mediocre with vehicles. Hopefully I learn a few things from you guys and in return be able to help others along that come after me, new to the forums. I recently broke my leg and before I can ride again I’m attempting to fix the leaks near the top end of my 400. Thanks again for any help/info you guys have. I appreciate it 🙂

New guy

Hello fellow Honda junkies! Just picked up a ’96 fourtrax 300 4×4 green. I used to have the exact model back in my younger days and have regretted selling it since the day I watched it leave my driveway on a trailer.
I’ve been searching for one of these for a while and when I saw this one come up I had to jump on it. All stock, in great condition and very well cared for by the previous owner (which was the original owner of the quad).
I’ve been seeing these for sale for anywhere from 1500 to 3000. I picked her up for 2000 and didn’t even haggle with the guy, I knew it was a solid deal right off the bat!
The only thing I’m wanting to replace is the tie rods, they have a little play to them. My question is, should I stick with oem Honda parts or go with an aftermarket replacement?
Thanks for any input.

Hello everyone! I have been in the market for an older Fourtrax 4×4 for a while now and finally stumbled upon one somewhat close by to my house. Either way, I scooped it up for a very good price and I’m excited to get tearing into it and fix a few things. Speaking of fixing things, where do folks get digital versions of the repair manuals? I can’t seem to find them on the forums here.

I just don’t know exactly what year it is but I believe it’s at least the 94-2000 range. Based on these pictures, does anyone have a rough idea as to the year of my new wheeler? The year sticker is missing but there is some sort of VIN etched into the metal on the front of the frame. Attachment 24650Attachment 24651

’99 honda 300 fourtrax starts without help

I own a ’99 Honda 300 4×4 and recently had a problem starting it. Only clicks from the solenoid. Took out batttery, cleaned all contact points, charged battery, checked battery after charge w/good tester[ tests under load]. Put it back together and ‘click’ again. Put in new solenoid. Go to reconnect batt.cables. Connect one cable, go to connect the other and as soon as I touch batt.cable to terminal, starter motor engages with key in off position. Solenoid is connected properly w/ yellow wire positive, green neg. Wha happened ?

New TRX250X owner

Heya,

I recently purchased a new TRX250x after a looooooong hiatus from riding. To give you an idea of how long it’s been, I was riding when the Honda 185S ATCs were still being sold. I rode one of those for several years… trail, sand and track.

I got the itch after going out and riding a friend’s quad … I was scouring manufacturer websites and Craigslist the second I got home. I decided that for me, the best way back in was something relatively cheap and easy to ride… the 250X seemed to fit that bill.

First time out on it was a blast… really the only complaint was the suspension wasn’t what I’d call plush… especially the rear. My friends 300EX was much smoother riding (his preloads were set very soft). I’ve since addressed that by doing the Banshee swap, and that was a huge, easy and cheap improvement!

At some point, I may be looking to do something up front. Shocks with adjustable preloads would be really nice, but I’d like to find a cheaper solution than Fox or Elkas. I haven’t really found anything else, but then I’m not entirely certain I know what exactly would work.

Still figuring things out but having fun doing so!

Rancher 420 in South Louisiana

Hi,
I’m new to the forum. I live just outside of Baton Rouge, LA and own a 2012 Honda Rancher TRX420FE.

I’m 39, married with 4 kids. I work in Baton Rouge with a construction company and really enjoy the outdoors.

I love my rancher. It was given to me by my father as a Christmas present of all things. Totally random, super generous. I’ve grown up with ATCs and ATVs and just short of a short stint with a Kawasaki Bayou, I’m Honda through and through. This is my first new bike. We had a 110 growing up and eventually upgraded to a Big Red soon before they were discontinued. I’ve rebuilt a couple of 200’s (a 200s and a 200x) and always worked on the 110 and Big Red so I’m used to wrenching on these things.

Glad to be apart and will be glad to help where I can.

Countrygirl’S Honda

:funnyhonda:

Hey everybody! New Georgia girl 2 the forum.
I have a question…
I have a 1996 honda 300 fortrax, I went to get it out of building this morning to change my oil. AND IT WILL NOT CRANK! I do most all my own work, so I have tried the basics.
It’s getting fire, but the sparkplug boot has came loose from the wire. It’s been running that way though.
it was working fine 2 days ago when I parked it. One more thing I did notice, is that my start button isnt working now either. I used screwdriver on solenoid & it turns over good, even charged battery just in case. Its kinda like its not gettin any gas??
I’d greatly appreciate it if anyone knows what it is or can tell me what to check next?
