New to the forum, been lurking for a while, but appreciate what I’ve found. I’m in East Texas and new to atv’s.
Recently I ran across a couple of project bikes and have enjoyed working on them. While doing so, I’ve run into a few challenges here and there, but thanks to this forum I have been able to find answers via the search. Hopefully I will be able to contribute eventually.
I’ve recently purchased my brother-in-law’s old ’99 TRX400EX (he bought it new) and have been restoring it now for the past two weeks. I’ll post up some photos once I have it finished up and back on the trails again.:) I’m mainly a car guy, but couldn’t pass up the deal for a quad that I’m familiar with.:rating09:

Bought a used 200 3 wheeler with top end noise , rebuilt the top end , also new cam chain and sprocket . It started and ran just fine , but won’t go into gear , I have rocked it back and forth thinking it might be between gears. Also I did drive this unit before tear down , Where to start ?

finally had time to finish adjusting valves today but now there even louder. Before adjustment there was a low tapping now it’s very noticeable. I don’t understand? I spun crankshaft till it was on sideways T line, there was play in both intake and exhaust rocker arms maybe a little more play in intake. Adjusted to .004 on both. Only did slight adjustment on intake but when I checked exhaust I couldn’t even get feeler in so I adjusted to .004 and all valves have slight drag on feeler. I’m frustrated should I put exhaust valves back to where feeler won’t fit .004? Someone please help?

I recently purchased a 2003 TRX650FA from an estate sale 9family member) with 1024 miles on it. Had my granddaughter riding it and it started smoking (White Smoke) coolant level dropped but very little. Could this be from an intake valve or is something else at play?
