’98 Fourtrax 300

I’m a newbie from SW GA. I have a Fourtrax 300 that has served me will but is needing some TLC. I found this forum surfing the web. My ride has relatively low hours even though it’s old. I think the elements and not using it very often have hurt it more than anything. It stays outside under a tarp cause my wife won’t let me bring it in the house. I only use it for hunting and hunt lease maintenance. It’s never been "rode hard". Thanx for having me!

New from AZ

New to this site. Glad I found it. I have started my first Honda 4 wheeler project.
A 1986 TRX70. I have restored only 3-wheelers to this point. This little guy was sitting outside a tire shop and the guy was planning to restore it, but you know how that goes………..

300 ex

So I have a 06 Trx 300 ex and for some reason it feels like the gears wind out extremely fast with a lot more noise than power and it wasn’t always like this. Someone said it sounds like something with the clutch and I think it might be because quad doesn’t catch until clutch is almost all the way out. Shouldn’t it start to catch about halfway out? Does that sound like clutch and if so how do you adjust?

New Guy

Hello! New to forum. Been lurking for answers here for a few weeks. I have a 98 Foreman 400 that has been a great machine, finally just had my first issue.
Fan stopped running, read some info on this issue, and it sounds like a common problem. Long story short I bought a new control unit, fan now runs, but only after the oil light comes on. That seems to be too late?? Last nite I ordered an oil sensor, hoping that fixes the issue.:)

Newbie…in every way

Greetings everyone. People call me Preacher due to my recent graduation from Seminary and appointment to a church in my local area (Pennsylvania). 🙂 Don’t worry, not here to be a policeman or to lecture/condemn anyone, just here to learn about the world of ATV’ing and my brand new machine.

We moved to an area that gets lots of snow (near mountains), has great hunting, loads of ATV trails, and very little interference/hassle from neighbors/law enforcement. However, because of that, there’s also a lot of ATV theft. I’m interested in learning about security and specifically what hunters/fishermen do to secure their ATVs when they ride into the woods and park it for potentially a lengthy amount of time. I’ve purchased some Kryptonite stuff (New York Fahgettaboudit Chain 1415 and Stronghold Anchor for the garage), but I know nothing is 100% secure if the thief has enough time. Just wondering generally what folks do for security.

The machine I purchased is the 2015 Honda Rancher FA5 (non-EPS…I’m young enough and don’t need EPS), with IRS, AT DCT, and is finished in Phantom Camo. I didn’t get any accessories with it like metal skid plates or any of the Honda stuff until I see what conditions I’ll be riding in. I can always add that stuff later. This is my first ATV ever (age 38)!! So that’s why I’m a "newbie…in every way." I got an amazing deal on the 2015 model since the 2016s just hit the dealer showrooms in the area, and this was the last one they had left with all the features I wanted! Talk about a blessing? 😉

I’m glad to be here. Hoping to learn a lot, if you’ll be patient with me.

New to site

Hello,
I am a novice mechanic for my area. I do everything from complete rebuilds. To tie rods. To seats. Etc.
I also buy alot of project or broke atv for repair and resale.
Unfortunately alot of the ones I get are honda es models.

With that being said I recently purchased a used 2002 honda recon es. That the previous owner did a engine swap to a manual shift. The problem I am scratching my head about is that at first it would only run for about 5 min. Then die out didn’t make a difference at any rpm or if you were riding it or idling. I installed a new carb. Check timing and valve clearance. And now I get nothing.
Meaning with a fully charged battery no start. Even if I jump the starter. I get nothing. Even with the pull rope it will roll but no fire.
The es panel has a flashing 1 (3 times ).
Which indicates angle sensor. But it has no such sensor and the wiring plug is just hanging there.
I have checked everything( wiring etc ). Am I missing something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
