I am new from North Carolina. I just traded a ttr225 for my first quad a 2001 400ex. It smokes from start up and smokes worse as you rev it. The good news is it runs…lol I figure it needs a top end I have never done one before so if anyone knows of threads they can point me to I would be grateful. All the plastic is in great condition lights work but the start button doesn’t work. I came across this site by googling that problem and noticed a lot of helpful people and some great threads.

I was pressing the brake drum(hub) bearings out yesterday and guess what happened? That’s right, the hub busted!! I’ve been doing some research online and my question is, will a hub work off another Honda quad? The 250 recon front hubs look like they will but they have different part numbers. Can anyone out there help me? Thanks!!

has anyone eliminated the red reverse button to shift in reverse directly? thanks

I have a 2014 rancher with 100 miles on it. Shows a trouble code of 23. Starts with 2 slow blinks than 3 faster blinks. Im assuming this means 23. Can anyone help with this? Cant find anything online and its not in my manual. Ive seen one post about maybe an angle sensor, but not sure if thats legit. Any help would be much appreciated

Just joined the forum, very impressed with what I’ve seen so far. I feel I have a pretty decent wealth of experience with gas and diesel engines but am 100% new to working with these small Honda engines. How did I get here? Good question.

A good buddy of mine has 50 acres of farm/woods in central MD where I’ve been riding his Fourtrax(s), ATCs, and Polaris(s) for a while now. I’ve always asked about buying one of the Hondas, he’s always said I’ll kill myself. I happened to be up there a couple days ago helping him with a Jeep engine swap he’s been putting off for a while. Went GREAT (1954 engine into a 1953 body), and in return he gave me his ’93 300EX. Of all his toys it was the most neglected and was always left back in the corner while we were out on the ATCs. It almost definitely has a bad connecting rod. Also hasn’t really been run in about two years, so it will need a once over of fluids, carb cleaning, etc.

Happy to have it as my winter project in addition to my Jeep and hope to have it back up and running well in time to play in the snow. Looking forward to bombarding this site with questions and digging up some knowledge!
