I’m back in the atv game!!!!

Well guys this Sunday I’m going up to Atoka, Oklahoma to meet a guy to buy my rancher! It is a 2013 rancher 420 4×4 at irs. It has power steering also! It only has 53 hours on it, the guy bought a project car and needs cash so he is getting rid of this atv. I’m paying 3600 bucks for it. Everything is mechanically sound, there isn’t been any staining on the engine! Here is a picture.

New to me Rancher

Hey guys, new to the forum as I just picked up an 06 Rancher.

Its a 4×4 with foot gear change (i’m hesitant to call it manual as there is no clutching required) its non push button gear changing….

Its my understand that flavor did not come with the electronic dash, and that there is no way to put a stock one on. Because of this, there is no way to know the number of hrs or miles on the machine.

Are both of those correct?

It needs brakes, I’m going to order the disk brake conversion kits.

Any recommendations on which trail tech "dash" computer to get?

Any other maintenance issues i should look to address? (oil change etc)

Primary use will be around my hobby farm doing farm stuff. Only very occasional trail use.

2002 rancher 350

Hey guys I recently just bought a a 02 350 rancher from a guy at work.It has no damage, and after changing oil, filter, plug, gear lube.lubing cables and moving bushings.Cleaned air cleaner and I removed front and rear drums cause brakes were out of adjustment, cleaned them up and regreased the seals. The machine is in very very good condition. With new tires as well.I could see I was the first person to be working on it.I piad 1600 cash and it has 3541 miles with 541hrs.I just wondered if those are high miles and would like to here what advise is on this particular machine anyone has.

2003 Rancher 350 Electric Shift Fixed.

I would like to thank the forum for the help in fixing a new to me Rancher. With the help of the search function, and some helpful answers from members, I narrowed down my problem to the electric shift reduction gears.

When I took off the cover, I found that one of the gears had stripped its teeth. I assume the it was from a lack of grease. I installed a new set with plenty of white lithium grease, as recommended here. Just now, took it for a short ride, and it is shifting perfect.

Going to change all the fluids in the next few days. Next week I will give it a long shake down ride, but I foresee no other problems.

Thanks again.

let there be light

so, a buddy of mine got two of these gremlins for his rzr Alpena

they’re like having two small suns following you around in the woods. exceptionally bright for their size (and price, only $60 at advance auto)

they’re 16W with 1500 lumens each. looking at the service manual for my 2012 rancher 420 AT, the "high beams" (which must mean you have to be high to assume you’re going to see better with them on) and regular lights say they’re each 30w bulbs…so, theoretically I should be able to just intercept the power to the high beams at the harness there to power two of these guys off the same switch as the regular lights.

anyone see a reason why this wouldn’t work? I’d like to get these boogers mounted without having another switch hanging off the bars

08 TRX420FM Wiring Terminals

Found 2 Sumitomo HM090 terminals that are not used. Checked the wiring diagram and found that the black one is wired to IgnSW and Gnd, the white one is wired to IgnSw and main 30a fuse panel. Look at the diagram – they are next to the regulator/rectifier. These two then are only hot when ign is on. Thinking the white one should be for winch and black one for horn? The one by the RF fender is always hot, so am using it for 12v accessory plug. My concern is the 20-22ga wire going to a 10 amp fuse. It would be fine for GPS or cell phone, but what about a 1,000,000 candlepower spotlight? Going to try to attach a photo, they are on the right side with seat and panel removed..oh, the female is already in the terminal, just remove it and the silicone plugs. I am going to try to drill a hole in the silicone plugs and use them. I went to the Honda shop and a tech gave me the terminals.
Has anyone messed with these yet, or did you just scotchlock into a wire?
Lisa
