New/ Used 1986 Honda TRX300SX

Well its been awhile since I’ve been on here! But figured I would share that I purchased a new toy for the daughter. Just purchased it for $500 bucks and its a clean and great running little quad for what it is! Seemed reasonable for how nice it is. I will post a pic as soon as I get a chance.

Only thing I have noticed is that the front spindles seem loose. Just wondering what that job consists of and if its worth even fixing? It’s not horrible, but I want it to be safe.

Also does anyone have or know of any other plastics that might fit it? The wife and I want to girly it up and I don’t want to ruin to original plastics. Or would a vinyl wrap possibly work?

Any input is appreciated!

ticking from motor and only 50% power! help!

So I have a 2014 Honda Rancher trx420FA

so before I explain my issue. I have a Big Bore kit. Big Gun Exhaust and Power Commander 5.

I have a loud ticking from my motor. It’s very noticable. I don’t have a bent rod. Push rods look good. On top of that noise if i doing anymore then 50% on the throttle the wheeler bogs down it does not like it at all! Any ideas!? Please help! Have a whole week of sunshine and I can’t ride! :

Recon how to tell if shocks/struts are shot?

Got my Recon out today for a little trail riding. I’m not 18 anymore, but still hit the heavily ruted trail hard. Recon beat me up. My 400 rancher on the same trails hurt less. Looking at suspension, appears similar.

How do you check your bike if the shocks/struts are good? Anything else I should check?

Thinking about putting the 25" tires on the Recon to see how they ride (if they will fit).

New Foreman First Run

Today I took my new Foreman 500 out for it’s first run. I went to Coyote ATV trails in Southern Illinois. It was raining the whole time, and the trails were muddy.

I am completely impressed with this bike!!! Even though the trails were a mess, I ran into nothing that the bike could not handle. Excellent machine!!! I’m completely impressed with it.

Bogs down in reverse

Hi all,
Only been a member less than a year now and have enjoyed reading through the forms. I recently bought a used 07 Rubicon 500 FGA. The previous owner did a cam upgrade , K&N air filter , and a aftermarket performance pipe. I did not care for the loud exhaust and installed a factory muffler. After the install I fired up the quad and all seemed well untill I tried to back up to where I park it in my yard. The quad kinda humps up a bit and the motor bogs down and will quit if you keep full throttle. The forward gears work fine through all shift modes. There is no blinking error code to read. The display is normal. I installed a new fully charged battery as well. And on the display the reverse light does light up and it does fell like there is a full engagement into reverse when shifting from neutral. I have the service manual and am not finding anything else to try. Kinda hoping that maybe someone here may have a suggestion to try that I have not thought of yet.

TX in advance Bruce

Stupid Question re: Differential (final drive) fluid

OK, I’m a newbie and I recently got a 1989 FourTrax 300 (2wd). I just changed the oil and I want to drain the final drive and replace that oil simply because I don’t know how long it has been since that was done. So here is my stupid question: What tool do you use for the drain plug on the final drive. I cannot see the plug, but feeling it with my finger I don’t feel any corners like I would expect. It feels round. Is there a special tool? If not, what size socket should I use? I told you it was a stupid question. Thanks in advance!

Traded Down/ Up.. Rancher to Foreman

I purchased a 2014 Rancher a little over a month ago. While I enjoyed the ATV, I still didnt like it as much as my 07 Foreman I had a few years back. Due to an recent ankle injury, the foot shift on the rancher became difficult.. perfect time to switch to an ES model.

Picked up yesterday a 2012 Foreman with 129 miles on it. I already like it better than the 14 Rancher

I really like the look of the STI Mud Trax’s that were on the Foreman when I got it, but I still swtiched my STI Black Diamonds over. I feel they are a better all around tire, lighter, and a radial.
