TRX300 knocking noise

I have a 1996 TRX300FW that I recently purchased. Last night the wife was putting around the yard and I noticed a slight "knocking" noise from the front end.

Is that normal?

thanks!!

1996 Foreman 400 lift question?

so I have 1996 Honda foreman I got last year. got it for 1,000.00 $ cleaned the carb and ran like a champ. no issues except the fan control module. I want to make it my mudding and swamp rider here in Juneau Alaska. does anyone know where I can send my front A Arms, cv axles, drive shafts and rear swing arm and what ever else needs to be extended for a bigger lift then 2"? I want to fit 30" or 31" tires with Gear Reduction and Stall CLutch

any fabrication sites for this? or a company that makes them that I just missed?

thanks for reading!

Shadetree lucked out.

Yesterday I went to an auction and wound up with a 87 350 (non running) but otherwise pretty nice for the age.

The auction was just a couple miles from the house, sooo I thiought I would just pull the little tilt trailer and haul it with the 300. For some reason it would start but only idle for a minute or two and die. Odd because this thing has always been 100% dependable even in the winter at 20 below temps. Maybe it was jealous. lol

Anyway took the artic cat and picked it up, brought it in the shop and cleaned the air filter, and installed a new plug, no luck. dribbled a little gas in it and it would fire up till it run out.
I could hear the fuel pump running like it should, but it wasn’t getting any gas to it, so took the lines off and blew through them, then shot a little air to the tank to prime the pump, and this puppy busted right off and idled like a new one.
This thing turned out to be in great shape, runs, shifts, just like it is suppose to. Every light works, all the brakes work and feel like they should.

It is missing the one small plastic panel by the kick start, and I need a new gas cap and seat or at least a seat cover, and there is a little play in the tie rod ends.

So Shade tree lucked out, him being the resident 350 old school guru, I figured I would have a ton of questions for him. lol

99 foreman 450es front wheels not turning

could be a stripped front drive shaft, bad gears in the diff
or who knows what the old owner did, many guys have been known to do home made mods to get the front end to be locked, and a such can tear up parts
I would try using a dremil and get that welded bolt out intact as possible and see if the hole is stripped or?? why its welded on??
and go from there
good luck

ES trouble

’09 Foreman 500

Downshift is fine. Quick and crisp

The first part of the upshift is fine. The "release" is slow and sounds like the motor is "unwinding". Takes a second, maybe two to release and engage. Applying throttle without giving this time to happen is not good. Seems to be more pronounced as you go up through the gears.

Same condition whether engine is running or not. Although, it does seem slower with engine off.

I have cleaned and regreased the gear set in the electric shifter. The battery shows 13.7 when running. I have adjusted the clutch.

Troubleshooting in the shop manual was not helpful.

Thoughts?

98 foreman 450es has me baffled..wont start

Greetings,

Currently trying to get a 1998 Honda Foreman 450es to run. Last time it was out was probably 3 years ago and it ran fine sold it to my father and there it sat with a dead battery. I put a new battery in it and it would turn over but wouldn’t start. Pulled plug and grounded it to head..nice blue spark. Cleaned carb multiple times, purchased new carb still nothing. Fuses all checked good. Then put a new cdi and voltage regulator and spark plug in and same thing. It sounds like it wants to start (hits periodically) and back fires after cranking awhile. I then pulled the valve cover off to check clearance at TDC and noted the intake lash was waaaaay off. I readjusted it to .006 for both intake and exhaust and still it will not start. I am baffled. I have fixed many ATVs and I have never had this much trouble. The topend was rebuilt less than 100 hours ago.. it has strong compression..blows finger off spark plug hole..getting gas…getting spark. The kill switch is in correct position although could it still cause a no start if its bad? I have heard of bypassing it but I am not sure how. I’m at a loss here and would greatly appreciate any advice offered.

Thanks in advance,

CJK
