I have this post going inside my build thread and wanted to move it out here for more coverage.
I just finished up my mini rebuild of my 1990 300FW and I am now getting a clicking noise coming from somewhere in the front end drivetrain. When I jack the machine up and have all 4 wheels off the ground, it does not make the noise at all when I spin the wheels and they all spin freely with no binding or anything. Once I set the machine back on the ground, it makes the noise only when I push it backwards and it does not make the noise when I pull it back forwards.
I was thinking, at first, that it was the front diff but then I got to thinking that if it was the don’t diff or even the transfer case, wouldn’t the noise be present with the machine lifted entirely off the ground? If the answer to that is yes, then it leads me to believe that it’s one of the CV joints and probably the one I just replaced the inner boot on for some reason.
What are your thoughts regarding the noise on the ground only and not in the air? Any help is sincerely greatly appreciated! Cman had been helping me a ton inside my other post.
I haven’t been able to match names on here with FB names that may follow the 300 page so if most of you are the same folks and have seen my photos already I apologize. For those who haven’t here are a few engines I’ve built over the past 2 years.

I am looking for a 1986 Honda Fourtrax 350, or comparable, for parts only. Hopefully someone out there has one sitting for parts only or knows of someone who has one for parts only?
Have 94 fourtrax 300 with one year old battery that does not stay charged after a week or two will not turn over starter. Voltage drops to less than 9 volts. I can charge the battery with no problem and then it has 13.5 volts and starter works fine. So I put a volt meter between negative battery post and ground and discovered I have a 40-60 Miliamp drain going on with the ignition key in off position. This must be enough to drain the battery in a few weeks.
My question here is where do I even begin to test for a drain that is causing this leakage?
Lots of connectors in battery compartment? Could it be one of these?
Thanks for any help. This forum has been my savior since 2010 when I got this quad.

Hey everyone, new here I searched around but couldn’t find an answer so I’m hoping someone here can give me one. I have a 1995 Honda Fortrax 4×4 300. It came stock with 11 inch rims. I was wondering if I’d be able to put 23x8x12 rims and tires on the front and 23x10x12 rims and tires on the back ? I know there is some issue with the front needing to be and inch smaller but was hoping someone had some experience with this and I could go ahead easy enough with no issues. Thank you for any advice.
I am new to the forums and I am sorry that if this has been asked and answered.
I have a 1986 Honda Fourtrax 350 4×4. It starts right up and idles. But when you give it throttle it sputters and black smokes. Like it is hitting the Rev limiter It just started. I was mowing with it and all of a sudden it wouldn’t pull my hill. I have own this thing since 86 and oly have put a handful of coils on it. Any advice or suggestions would be great
