Here is what the deal is and if anyone has any insight to problem I would sure appreciate it. When I have my gas switch on reserve it runs fine. As soon as I switch to "on" it will run a few seconds then die. Like it is not getting gas from that line. Back to reserve and it is fine, just does when on on position. Anyone? and thanks in advance.

At the auction a couple of weeks ago that I bought this rig at, a guy was telling everybody to kick the starter, and that it didn’t have any compression.
After I cleaned this thing up, she starts with the starter on the first revolution, you just can’t ask for any better. Even though the kick starter felt like it should, it wouldn’t start with it, and that sort of puzzled me until I got to looking at the way the compression release works, which I am not crazy about.

You have to be smarter than the machine, it starts easy with the kick start IF you follow thru all the way to the very end of the throw, to where it releases the compression release.
I really don’t see the need to use the comp release, so would there be any drawback to just unhooking it??

I’ve looked around this site and seen lots of advice about these electric shift machines and how to troubleshoot them. I have a manual and been following the troubleshooting flow chart. Here’s the issue, drive it a little and it gets stuck in a gear and the shift indicator blinks 11 times. Speed sensor, wires or ECU? Shut it off restart drive it some more then the speedometer quits but it shifts fine. I’m looking into that but it seems it’s something to do with the Canadian versions only; combination sensors? Both problems have potential solutions in the book; which one to believe without replacing expensive parts, who knows? I have access to the exact machine in a 2002 model which works fine. Should I start swapping parts starting with the ECU (which is about $800 in Canada I’m told) or continue with the troubleshooting. This thing may end up with a foot shift in the end.

I have an ole Trx250x.
– Supertrapp slip-on.
– stock carb.
– all stock intake except for K&N style air filter with lid.
Was wondering what main jets would get me close on jetting it right.
Any help appreciated.!
