Oil Leak From….?

I have a 2007 TRX 500 FE/FPE 4×4 ES that just started to leak some oil. I noticed the other day when I was rolling in neutral that that the drive shaft was sounding a little rough. 2 days later I go into the garage and there was a silver dollar sized oil puddle right beneath the boot covering the drive shaft. At least I assume it is the drive shaft.

I have attached some pics. The oil was on the boot where the rear end attaches to the engine if that helps. I am hoping that someone can help me diagnose the problem and pose some solutions. I am pretty handy fixing cars but have not needed to do anything to my 4 wheeler since I have owned it.

I would be interested in buying a service manual if anyone knows of a good source for a digital/paper copy.

Thanks!

Eric

No spark, no power, no NUTHIN.

I have an ’87 350 TRX. The last time I used it everything was fine, took it on sum trails n had no problems. I trailered it home, backed it off the trailer, n shut it off. Next day I go to start it n there was NO power to ANYTHING. No lights, no fuel pump ticking, no neutral indicator light….nothing. The battery is fine, all of the fuses are fine, and I can’t see anything else out of place or disconnected. Any ideas? Thanks!

My Build

I started with a 1999 Trx 300 Fourtrax with a rusty frame from a few years at the beach. Got it sandblasted
http://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums…1&d=1441425872 and then Hot dip galvanised
http://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums…1&d=1441426072 then reassembled with new ball joints bearing and seal right through
http://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums…1&d=1441426249 I have now put on some new tyres and Led lights and just putting a winch on now.

2015 Rubicon

Does anyone know why Honda, who back in 2011 had the reverse, neutral, drive lever on the left side of the Rubicon moved the reverse lever back to the left grip?
Thanks, Airpix

2000 Foreman 450 ES Vacuum Hose oil leak

Well I’m a newbie on the forum with my first Honda. Seems to be a decent 4 wheeler! I noticed a small oil leak and tracked it down to a tiny black vacuum type hose up along the steering column a little bit under the speedo. It has a plastic connector in it but I can’t see a darn thing that it could plug into. Also noticed a clear small vacuum type hose with a similar connector but nothing coming out of it.

The leak seems to be pretty small. I can say the fluid feels and looks like oil rather than brake fluid. Aside from a differential vent or engine oil I can’t imagine what this could be. I don’t want to pull all the plastics to track down the hose andd figure it out if someone can point me the right direction first.

Any ideas?

Once I get the seat cover replaced and a new speedo this rig should do me well for a hunting ride. Looking forward to getting it in the woods~:icon_gd:

’95 TRX 300EX Project/Memorial Bike – need help and pointers

Background:

My younger brother passed away a year ago, and I now own his old ’95 TRX 300 EX project bike. The bike was in running condition back in ’13, but it had not been run again until I had the heart to even touch the bike earlier this summer. He was storing the bike in my garage, and in the Fall ’13, he gave me a bottle of fuel stablizer to put in it, which I had forgotten to. The last time I saw him last spring (’14), he was pretty annoyed I forgot to put it in the bike.

So, this summer I decided to fix his bike and get it running again, and complete his ATV project bike. The bike was a project bike made from two bikes. He got one that had a blown engine, and his friend gave him one he crashed and badly wrecked (but had a good motor). My brother swapped the engines, and some parts, and got a running bike (although I very vaguely recalled the starter button never quite worked).

Getting the bike running again:

This summer I drained the fuel, which luckily looked and smelled good. I refilled it with a fresh 1/2 tank of 93 octane. I changed out the solenoid (figured it was bad and was cheap to replace), added an ignition with key (just because I wanted a key for it), and realized that the old battery was toast. I added a brand new Interstate brand battery.

The starter button still does nothing, even with the new solenoid. As soon as I tapped the new solenoid with a screw driver, it turned over and started up briefly. It stalled a few times, and I adjusted the choke until it steadily ran. After beating myself up for a few months for possibly gumming up the carb and gas tank, here it was running like it did the last time he rode it.

Since then, I have put a few hours of use on it. I am surprised at how fuel efficient it is, although I haven’t really pushed it because the tires on it look as if they are 20 years old and completely bald, covered in patches, and appear a bit dry rotted.

Current issues:

Tires – bald, dry rotted, and full of patches
Start button – does not work at all
Solenoid – ordered another one because of how many times I screwdriver started it
Brakes – a bit slow to stop.
One rubber Seat gasket on frame missing.

Tires:

I am planning on ordering new tires soon. I want to find out how much a local shop wants for new tires with the mounting. Front tires on the bike now are 22×7-10 and the rear tires are 22×10-9. I got my eye on the CST Ambush tires, which some seller on eBay has a package of all four in those sizes for $260. Seems like a good deal, especially since the local place quoted me at $90 per rear tire (but I think they are including the mounting into the price). I want to ask them what tires they would be installing for that price, how much for all 4, and how much to just mount 4 tires if I bring my own.

Two things I need help with:

1) New electrical problem: When I had been putting the key in the ignition over the last few weeks, turn it in the on position, and put the switch to run, the headlight and the neutral light would light up. After the last ride (on a bumpy rocky trail), this is no longer happening. None of the lights come on now, and I thought the bike died. However, it starts up immediately with a tap of the screwdriver to the solenoid, and then all the lights come on. I have no idea what caused this or how to fix.

2) Starter button not working, what can this be? Could it be possible that the replacement solenoid was also bad?

2014 Honda Foreman Es?

Only 169 miles, I haven’t ridden it since oil change in February. Took it out this weekend and the transmission light was blinking. Two slow blinks and then three quick ones. Any help on what this code means would be appreciated.

Thanks

1987 TRX350D Foreman Fuel Problem

Hi to everyone,

I am new to the forum and I appreciate all of the great information that has been shared here to help keep our ATVs running. I am the original owner of a 1987 TRX350D Foreman that has been a workhorse for us at our property in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

The ATV will run for about a minute after sitting overnight then won’t start again unless I wait several hours. I found that the fuel pump 10A fuse was blown so I replaced. Followed the procedure to check the fuel cutoff relay on page 20-8 of the service manual and it checks out except for step 4 where I had only a few volts at the fuel pump when trying to start the engine. I jumpered through the cutoff relay and get 12V at the pump until I try to start the engine and the voltage at the pump goes down to a few volts and is not stable. Should I be getting a solid 12V at the fuel pump with the ignition switch on and when trying to start?

Rancher 350 parts fit fourtrax 300?

I bought a 1997 fourtrax 300, my brother in law has a 2002 rancher 350. The motor is blown on his bike and he’s willing to part it out. Now my bike needs brake parts, a-arms and other various parts. I was wonder if his parts would retro to my bike, or if it’s just completely different. Maybe swap his shocks for mine? Idk I haven’t looked at his bike yet and I can’t find much online about it. Any info is appreciated!!!
