Hey all, new here and an owner of a 1987 250x FourTrax and I’ve been having some carb issues. I was gifted this machine from a family friend about two months ago. After sitting for 5-6 years it started 3rd kick and ran like a top for about two weeks. Then it stopped wanting to start. I noticed gas was flowing from the carb. I went ahead and did a full tune up. New plug, new air filter, oil filter, oil change and a carb rebuild. Before the carb rebuild it would start only if I kicked it like a mad man with the thottle wide open it’d fire up for 3-5 seconds then die instantly. So in goes new jets, seals, adjustment screws and new float needle aaaaand… no start and gas overflowing still. I’m at a loss on this thing. I’ve taken the carb apart multiple times and have blown everything out with compressed air and soaked the whole thing in carb cleaner. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know the factory settings for all adjustments on the carb? I’m thinking possibly something isn’t set right and that’s why it wont start but there’s also the issues of a new float needle and leaking gas still.. Anything helps, Thanks!

Just pulled out my drive shaft on my 85 TRX250 and the u joint is toast. I have found a few on ebay, but i was wondering if there is a u joint from another model that will fit on my drive shaft . Anyone know if there is an alternative?

I pulled the carburetor today. I have worked on many, many carburetors, but I am having trouble understanding this carburetor. How does the needle, choke the carburetor? Probably simple to many of you, but I am use to a choke plate. Thanks!
For all the hoohaa about how weak these engines are….. It has all the snap I’ll ever need on the farm and hunting camp, and then some.
Not a speed demon… but wasn’t meant to be.
Easy steering even though it doesn’t have power steering…. MUCH easier than my previous Polaris.
Its also nowhere near "tippy" as the Polaris on a hill side… The Polaris would just as soon roll over as it would anything.
Excellent throttle response from the fuel injection……
1st gear is perfect… A "bulldog" gear, plenty low enough…. Not needed for normal use, 2nd gear is plenty for pulling out unloaded, even from a stop on steep hills.
I’m perfectly happy… Been grinning all day.
A quick pic I snapped while checking the fences today…
I joined in hopes someone here could help me find a service manual. I need to split the case, and it’d be awesome to find a technical manual with all specs.
I have 93 fourtrax 300FW, when throttled up engine starts to pulse up and down. all fuel items have been checked. not sure where to start electrically??
I’ve been searching for Honda Southern Blue paint (pb149) to no avail. Does anyone have a source on this or what you used to get close to the original color? Duplicolor apparently doesn’t have it nor does anyone else.
I installed a Terra 35 on my new 2015 Rubicon and I have a question on the terminal position on the winch. I saw on the post of the person that installed this winch on his Ranch that his post were pointing straight up and down and mine are vertical to the machine. I just want to make sure I’m new doing something wrong before I start wiring it up this weekend.
