Long story – first ride with the new Turbo RZR yesterday. Cruising around everything is going great. Get to Oldsmobile hill and floor it to see how it does. Starts great, lots if power, climbing good. Just past half way and the engine stops. I little annoyed I try to restart and nothing. So I roll down to the bottom. I’m thinking a wire must have come loose. Can’t find anything out of place. By now a couple people have come over to see what’s up. We go through everything anyone can think of and nothing. Cranks but won’t start. No error codes displayed, nothing. This is a huge weekend here for Polaris, the manufacturer of the RZR. This is the kickoff of this Turbo model. A guy with a rail offers to tow me back to CampRZR where I get the engineers that designed the thing are. It’s a little after 6:00pm and there not setup yet. The event is the next day but they start to look at it. Plug in a laptop, everything is looking fine. After a out an hour they think is the flywheel key, connects the flywheel to the crankshaft. They don’t have any but if I can get one they will fix it. Remember the car is brand new with 30 miles on it. So ileave it with them overnight. Back at camp I go through 3 day supply of beer in about 3 hours. Next morning I get a call from the service guys. They took the engine apart the night before and found the problem is a broke camshaft, serious problem. He tells me it needs a new engine. Head is about to explode, the beer probably added to that. Next he says they took the parts out of another RZR they had and think it will be able to run well enough to get me through the weekend. It will be ready in 2 hours. Now I can’t believe this will work but I go down there. The RZR is back together and running perfect. It should last the weekend fine but needs to be replaced. I take it out and it’s working perfectly. I’ll take it into the shop on Monday for the warranty work. It should go smoothly, the factory already has the ticket open and approved for the dealer. Can’t believe how lucky I got. Captain Slow rides again. Go Polaris, I don’t think any other manufacturer would provide that kind of service!
Earlier the police chief in our little town announced in the newspaper that anyone wishing to could drive their golf carts and side by sides on city streets after dark on Halloween night. Pretty cool I’m thinking. Some who know me know that my wife generally will not do the rzr thing. She doesn’t like dirt, dust, sand, mud, bumps, jumps, or climbing. Tonight she suggested we go riding in it after the kids coming by slowed a bit. We had a great time, even went to DQ for supper and rode around for an hour or so afterward. She even said it’d be nice if we could do it again. Hey, small victories.
Thought I’d share. I don’t expect it to happen again but it was a nice gesture on the Chiefs part. If you look behind my rzr about 150 feet, you can make out two police cruisers sitting watching traffic.

I have a 2014 XP4 900 RZR with 3000 miles on it. Today I noticed that the transmission is pushing small amounts of fluid out the vent tube. I noticed it and checked levels – they are fine. I ran it at low speeds both low and high range, stopped and looked after about 3 miles – no additional fluid. I then drove it 50+ mph for about 10 miles – pulled it in the garage and notice more fluid – not a lot – but more fluid. Checked levels again and still right at the full mark. It’s definitely coming from the vent tube – I have not rolled it and I changed all fluids 500 miles ago – if it was over full I would have thought it would have done it before now. One thing I didn’t check was how hot the transmission was – but I should have noticed it was hot when I checked the fluid.

I have a 2014 800 xc, which I purchased used, and wouldn’t trade for anything. It squeeks & squaks something TERRIBLE from the back end. I took the shocks off & greased both ends. Seemed to be one less squeak. The back tires had about 1/8 inch of play in them – loose rear outer hub bushings. Polaris wants hundreds of dollars for replacements. I bought GARAGE PRODUCTS bushings for under $100. Figured on spending a couple of hours radiusing the outside corners, sanding down the flashing, and just bringing them up to my standards. Got the delivery yesterday and these guys made the bushings JUST LIKE I WOULD HAVE! Actually BETTER. I spent 1 1/2 hours installing them (lots of grease because there’s no zerks) and NO SQUEEKS now. No looseness. It’s pleasing to see Americans making something RIGHT, in a world where almost everything is made overseas and not up to the quality standards that I grew up with. Ted
