trying to decide on a used machine
Initially I was set on an 800s for the fox suspension and agressive look. however some of my friends are pointing me towards the 50" machine setup right with a lift/ larger tires and wheel spacers…maybe upgraded shocks
I have no 50" restrictions in my area, however I do prefer and have some pretty tight trails around my house.
so now I’m back to square 1. The more I read, the more I’m think a 50" machine with the right suspension mods may be a better choice for my terrain anyway. I’m looking at a few somewhat local deals on craigslist right now. my budget at this point is 8k
2013 800 EPS with 225 miles, with doors but not much else 8k
2011 800 non eps 650 miles $7500
2010 800 with bunch of extras including doors, plow, spreader winch for $7500 200hrs, but unknown mileage as the odo won’t display it.
another option could also be to buy a new machine and finance a small amount allowing me to keep some cash to buy accessories
I’ve found these deals on new machines locally that could possibly fit into the budget
2016 570 standard for $9100
2015 570 standard for $8800
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 570 and 800 standard is other than the obvious displacement and hp, from a chasis standpoint assuming either will need a lift and some kind of shock/spring upgrade?
How Does A Person Buy Something
I guess I’m either showing my age, ignorance or ? The prices on these things are outrageous !! Even used ones on CL etc…
Noob here been lurking here and a few other sites and finally decided to ask.
I’ve been to three different dealers and only one offered to let me drive one around the parking lot..
I mean don’t blast me now , but come on do you go to a car dealership sit in the car then say I’ll take it ?? NO !
Most Dealerships have test ride days on motorcycles sign the waivers show proof of MC license and proof of Ins. SOOOOO
I’ve asked if they ever do a test ride days , take a few out to some controlled closed off road place and let people test ride them and I get the glare are you crazy look from them.
Or would they consider taking out one of their own (seems alot have their own) or a demo to see if I’d even like it.
I offered a signed commitment to purchase on the condition the Mrs and I like it.
And still got no can do…
Next up they don’t even flinch when they rattle off the price of these beasts !
A little of my past , use to race motocross early 80s then got into the 4 wheelers Yamaha warrior which was a POS then got a Suzuki quad 250 , sold that and got a sand rail and took it to Sand Mountain outside of Fallen Nv a few times and had a blast. Sold that in 93 and been on Harley’s since.
Now older with two lower back surgeries (I’m now fused from L3-S1 So I’m not into the well the youtube videos of flying, jumping and raising hell … lol Just want to maybe get a 900 trail and the Mrs and I can just trail ride.
I’ve read horror stories about staying away from the older 800’s ? Stay away from the Can Ams , The new Yamaha burns up the clutch , haven’t read much about the Hondas with the auto trans .
Then I do a Craigslist and there are ones with less than 100 miles / hours and buttload of add ons for obviously more than a brand new one from the dealer . Or just alot with very low miles/hours and already selling them
Do these people just jump on the bandwagon because there popular and get it take it out and realize it ain’t for them ? The wife hates it ???
I know certain things hold their value and of coarse these being popular I guess alot feel they can buy one run it for a few years and ask what they paid for it..?
So I’m kinda torn between if I get a chance to ride/drive one of these RZRs or just get a Dune Buggy that’s street legal. Yet I can still do the mountain logging roads?
Either way if I get one or the other I was going to set up to pull behind our small 25 ft MH
900 Trail in my trailer or the DB 4 wheels down..
The trailer I have now is only 54 inchs wide hence the 50in Trail RZR its an old uhaul with sides and pulls nice .
Sorry for the winded first post , but what’s a person do to get a chance to ride/drive one of these things?
