Backwoods Armor still in business?

Anybody know if Backwoods Armor is still around? I think the owners name is John? I’ve been trying to reach them for a week now… left several voicemails and several e-mails and nothing. Wondering if they’re out of the business since their site doesn’t show any XP1000 stuff.

Requesting Advice on What to Look For in a Used RZR4

We have decided to purchase a used RZR4, probably an 800. I was hoping to get some advice on what we should look for and possibly avoid while we are looking.

I will be buying it for my wife and 2 young sons to ride with me on trails in East Texas and Arkansas, so lots of rocks and some mud and tight trails in some cases, but usually wider trails where Jeeps can fit.

Is there a particular year or model to be avoided? Our budget is about 10-12k, so I am seeing a number of 2010-2012 800s that fit easily into that range and we will most likely buy from an individual to avoid dealer markups.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

EBS Smoking Drive Belt

I have a 2015 RZR 900 XC equipped with an Engine Braking System (EBS) which normally does a good job slowing the machine on downhill slopes. However, much to my surprise and dismay, I discovered that on very steep, long sections of sandstone here in Moab, it will actually cause the drive belt to smoke when in four wheel low. Apparently, the traction is so good the tires will not slide and the force on the belt is so strong that it begins to slip and heat up.

Once hot, the belt stuck to the clutch and would not let go. The only way for me to change gears was to shut off the engine, shift and then restart the engine. Fortunately, once the belt cooled down, everything returned to normal and it appears no permanent damage was done. I now shift into four wheel high on steep downhills and use the brake to control speed.

Anyone else run into this problem?

RZR battery too low to start

Battery was too low to start RZR. Had to jump it. After going for a short ride, it started RZR again but just barely.

RZR is 12 months old. My wife’s RZR, same age, has no battery problem. She doesn’t listen to stereo up all the way.

I operate RZR with headlight on. And the stereo up all the way.

Will this drain battery?

Is the solution a 2nd battery and trickle charge after each ride?
