AZ/NV/UT Desert riding recommendations?

So after a tradeshow in Las Vegas, I’m renting a RZR to ride since I’m very interested in trying desert/mountain riding — vs. the usual Eastern venues, like Ride Royal Blue, Hatfield, Wayne where I’ve put 2000 miles on my 800S. I’m interested in recommendations for great places to ride within, say, 6 hours of Lost Wages itself. Timeframe is mid-may and I like medium challenge, scenic rides.

So far, I have found rentals and riding in following places:

St. George UT
Sedona, AZ — closer to Grand Canyon
Las Vegas — not sure how scenic it would be near LV
Paiute trail in Central UT

Can anyone comment on these places or better ones to rent/ride? Direct vendor contact is great too.

Where did this thread go? Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act

I was going to post this up but could not find the thread. Anyway I received this from my state senator.

Dear Scott:

Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to H.R. 996, the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA). I agree with you and welcome the opportunity to respond.

As you may know, this legislation was introduced by Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-New York) on February 13, 2015. The bill would designate 23 million acres of land in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming as components of the National Wilderness Preservation System. H.R. 996 has been referred to the House Natural Resources Committee, where it awaits further consideration. No similar legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Senate.

I have serious concerns with NREPA because it would supplant local, community-based efforts to effectively manage our federal public lands in the West. If NREPA were signed into law, it would override longstanding, community-based efforts that seek to balance the many appropriate uses of our public lands with conservation and environmental protections. As such, I cannot support NREPA.

Like you, I agree that one-size-fits-all approaches to public lands management, mainly by directives from Washington, D.C., take us in the wrong direction. Rather, I support public land management solutions that are formulated and supported by local communities and organizations. These collaborations should guarantee multiple use and recreation, conservation, and adequate environmental protection. I have worked throughout my time in Congress to support these types of measures, such as the Owyhee Initiative, as well as other stakeholder driven, collaborative efforts. Please rest assured that I will continue to do so to ensure effective stewardship of our public lands.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please feel free to contact me in the future on this or other matters of interest to you. For more information about the issues before the U.S. Senate as well as news releases, photos and other items of interest, please visit my Senate website, U.S. Senator Mike Crapo.

Sincerely,

Mike Crapo
United States Senator

What tools do you carry?

I finally put my kit together. I like to be prepared for anything, including helping other that need help. I routinely get 20 miles away from home on the trails and walking out is my last resort.

I used to carry all this stuff in a bag all loose and bouncing around. After I had to change a belt in the bush, I had a hell of a time finding the right sockets etc. I ended up finding the giant rubber Gear Ties by Niteize. They work great! They keep all the socket, screw drivers, wrenches and even pliers all tidy in the bag.

no warranty support

Hi everyone, i wish my first post was under better circumstances……..been out of the offroad game for a couple years due to injuries. I finally purchased a brand new fox edition xp 1000. Had the time of my life for 4 weeks. it has 34.4 hours on it now and smoked top end. polaris will not fix due to my negligence in servicing air filter….at 34 hours!?!?!!? Dealer was out at first service, so i did one more trip on stock air filter…….it has no holes and no one can explain to me how the dirt got passed the filter…..wtf!!!! at any rate, as a long time polaris supporter, buyer and rider (2 outlaws,2trailblazers among anothers, thousands of miles in 8 western states, never lost a motor before) i have to retract all polaris support from this time forward. Will never purchase another polaris product or part……..hopefully i can fix my ride with aftermarket parts once i can save the money, since i dumped every dime i had on my new garage art…..do not buy a polaris unless you can afford the problems, there is literally no warranty support. the machine may be the way out, but its also their way….into your wallet, peaceout, ryan

Seat Belt Advice Please

The driver seat belt in my 2011 RZR 800 failed (froze) and had to be replaced. I installed a 4 point harness set I had laying around (the kind that you snap in each strap separately then release them all when you twist the latch lever) and HATE it.

The OEM 3 point harness was always difficult to adjust, etc. BUT it was convenient in that it would allow me to lean forward or to the right to reach things when stopped with releasing it.

Is there anything available that will give me this freedom of movement when stopped that is any better or easier to adjust, etc. than the OEM belt?

Any advise appreciated.
OR if you have a good stock OEM belt you want to sell please PM me.

THANKS

Good source for tools?… ?

I like to do most of my own work…. just don’t trust most mechanics this day and age… seems like are too young and only know what the book says to do.

That being said, I figure I need some of the tools for the PVT and possibly other tools.

So, where best to get them?

And other than the PVT required tools, recommendations for any additional tools that are frequently used?

Tools are primarily for 2015 900 EPS Trail.

Thanks

Brake Rattle

Friend has a 2014 800 EPS trail that has a big time rattle coming from the rear. I have a 2015 900 50" trail that seems to be getting a similar rattle. On-line research found a couple youtube videos about rattling brake pads and a couple fixes. How many on here have these issues and which fix worked best?
