Been thinking about upgrading my ride for a while, always wanted to go Yamaha. Was close to pulling the trigger on a Can-Am Outlander, but not a fan of all of the expensive maintenance. Then ran across a dealer with a new leftover 2014 550 EPS. Couldn’t pass it up for $6700 (how did I do?) 550 has more than enough power for me. Didn’t see where I needed the 700, but i did want the power steering. Never had a bike with PS before, but I love it so far. Just enough without taking too much feel away.
Haven’t gotten to ride it much yet, but love it so far. Need to start making my picks on a few accessories–winch, gun rack. Thoughts? What about a front bumper? Do I need it? If so, which one?
What oils do you recommend to use? i use the yamalube in both the diffs and engine but they seem to be pricey.didnt know if there was any better oils out there to use.also the bike is a 450 which has the wet brake in the rear diff so it has to be compatible with that and it’s cold here in the winters.im not sure if that has to do with anything while choosing oils.any suggestions? Thanks
With a new year apon us and a lack of yamaha chit chat I can honestly say I miss the banter. With it being slow and winter here. I’m gunna dare to start this again
With the release of a new Kodiak 700, new designed grizzly, all new yxz1000 sxs and of course your wolverine 700 sxs I think we have momentarily stopped thinking to the future.
My thoughts need to be expanded. With yamaha promising new models of sxs and hearing no talk of atvs is it fair to say the grizzly might be the top of the Chain for the atvs. Let’s be honest I don’t think the yxz motor will make it into the atv line. But will a cvt be seen on the 1000 to make it more driver friendly or will a bigger motor find its way into the wolverine. Maybe a 4 seater yxz or a non pure sport 1000 …
I bought a 2014 700 grizzly used and have no manual. What are the circumstances that enact the rev limiter. Sometimes it activates when I am in diff lock, but the other day I was traveling approx 20 mph and engaged 4×4 and diff lock without slowing down and the rev limiter didn’t activate but then i slowed down to idle and when taking off again it activated. Sometime the override button de-activates sometimes not. Is there any way to completely eliminate it for reverse and diff lock.
Tried to get out early before the kids wanted to go tobogganing and forgot to fill up with gas. It was right around freezing yesterday but dropped to -20° this morning.
Can anyone tell me if the exhaust is the same from a 2015 to a 2016? Interested in putting a slip on exhaust on my 2016 but no manufacturers have products for the new grizzlys
Was wondering who uses a plow with tracks and we’re did you get plow set up? I was told that a standard push tube mount would not allow me to pivot blade. Did a little looking on line and didnt look like many places sale longer mounts. I figured if I have tracks I should get a plow mounts for them over tires since tracks are superior for the snow. Any help were to buy would be great.
Thanks
What did everyone do to start off the new year????
We did our 14th annual New Years Day ride to a place called Paddock Res. Started out the day at 11 degrees by my thermometer and might of reached 18 degrees… Left the rigs with 18 machines and after about 4 miles a few of the riders that showed up realized this wasn’t the ride for them. So i made sure they made it back to the trucks and then we went a different route and caught up with the main group. That put us down to 13 decent riders and we had a great day riding and playing in the snow… I didn’t take a single picture but i’m hoping Dag did and will share some…. Always great riding with him…. and teasing him …lol
