2016 Grizz

Looking to put a winch on my 2016 Grizz. The Yamaha winch mount is $120.00. Is there any other brands/aftermarket mounting plate that don’t cost as much that fit the 2016? Is synthetic rope better than cable? And why?

Fire retardant material?

I’ve seen the suggestion to either carry some kind of fire extinguisher or a fire retardant material on trail rides. I doubt I’ll be taking on the weight of even a small fire extinguisher, but I’d still like to have some way to put out a fire. What would be a good ‘fire extinguishing material’ I could bring along that would work say if a fire started in a hard to reach part of the motor that I could just maybe grab a hand full of and throw it on? I’m imagining it would be something granular like sawdust (but of course not sawdust).

Thanks

Front diff leak – Need help guys !

Hey guys, got a leak where the front shaft goes into the diff. Assume its the oil seal that needs replaced. Never done this before and partzilla diagram looks like it in a foreign language.

Can someone please walk me through, step by step, what needs to be done to get shaft out, seal replaced, and back together.

Have read that I can unbolt the diff mounts and slide forward enough to remove the shaft, so would like to go that route if possible.

Again, please walk me through it, have not done this before..

Much appreciated !

Ready To Go

Well tomorrow my bear leaves I spent the day taking stuff off putting stock stuff back on . Ironically the last ride I had on her was my longest ride of this year a 106 mile adventure . She cleans up good you would not think she has over 15,000 miles ( 25,000km ) on her . Hopefully my new will be as fun and reliable the new adventure ( if dealer gets it together ) starts Saturday .

Metric vs standard hex keys

Brand new to ATVing, just got a ’11 Grizz 700 and I’m putting together an emergency tool list to take along on remote rides. I’m looking at hex key sets and realized I have no idea if I need metric or standard. So which type hex keys does my grizz take?

And whichever it is, are all the bolts and nuts etc on the bike consistent…like are all either metric or standard?

Thanks

Winch talk

Just got my first ATV, a ’11 700 Grizz and planning on doing some trail riding soon. First piece of equipment I’m adding is a winch and I’m needing some suggestions for something that would be good for my kind of riding but comes at a decent price. Usually I try to get quality stuff (Warn) but since I’m needing to conserve denero right now I figure this winch is something that (at least for me) doesn’t have to be crazy great/expensive. Although I’d still like to get something that’s decent quality and can pull well, in my middle age I hardly think I’ll be voluntarily launching into any terrain that has the potential to get me too stuck…thus I doubt I’ll be using the winch that often.

Anybody have a suggestion for a model that’s decent quality for around say $300 bucks? Doesn’t have to be built to be used time after time but quality does still count.

Thanks
