Beating off your knuckle joint

’11 700 Grizz here and I’m in the middle of disassembling one of my front knuckles to do a boot replace and I’ve most def reached a stopping point. So far I’ve got the caliper off as well as the 2 castle nuts for the knuckle and the 1 for the steering arm, but for the life of me I can’t separate any of those joints the castle nuts were securing. I’ve beat on all of them using a big rubber mallet with no luck at all. Is there something else holding these joints together I haven’t found maybe?

My next ideas are to try to detach the shock from the lower control arm so maybe that’ll give way a little easier, as well as letting some PB blaster soak into the joints before pounding on them again. Thought I should ask on her first before using the PB though.

Last time I had to separate a joint like these was on my ’96 Cherokee replacing one of my steering linkages. Had to get a special 2 prong fork tool to insert into the joint and pound away before it came apart. For some reason I don’t think that’ll be the answer for this one though.

I’m all ears.

Plano 1510 questions

I mounted my 1510 up last night bolting through the bottom of it with flat metal mounts and the back is working great. The problem is that the front sides are rattling around and moving. How did you guys mount the front of the box.

Digression of Riding Skills

So after a two year hiatus, I am ready to start riding again, the farm is kinda at a point that is acceptable. Rode a local place, Land Between the Lakes, this weekend for 4 hrs in my RZR.

First thing that I noticed, I have lost my balls. Hills that I would not have even slowed down for, I was getting out and taking a look see. Going to need some serious seat time. Hormone therapy? Wild affair with a young crazy chick? dunno……

Hopefully, this Saturday take the Grizzly for some tame riding for 4 plus hours to try and get my mojo back.

Introduction Post

Hello, all – Recently purchased an ’08 Grizzly 700 eps. 1275 miles, wench, $5400 from dealer. Fairly new to the ATV world, I normally reside on the Toyota 4Runner forum but toys change things. Just went on a trip to the North Park sand dunes near Walden, CO. Machine was great. Can’t wait to do some mods to it. My buddy I met up there just bought a 2015 Polaris 850 and after riding mine, just went and got an ’09 Grizzly 700SE to add to the collection.
A few quick questions.
Pretty sure I F*^#d up the air filter trying to clean it after the trip. Watched the videos and read the threads. The thing dried all wavy and warped. Ordered a K&N. Solved.
I really like the stock headlight on the handlebars on the newer models. I want to get the housing assembly and retrofit it.
Want to get some offset wheels. Perhaps 1′ or 1’5′. Did a little research and most folks didn’t have much bad things to say about that idea. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I’d like to stay at the 12′ rim and more tire, but wider stance. Most folks seem to have the Maxxis BH’s. Damn, they’re pricey. Tires for my truck cost the same! Gotta pay to play I guess.
Anyways, nice to meet everyone and I look forward to contributing to the community (and getting help as well)
Thanks, everyone
Andy

Need 2001 Kodiak help

Leaking gas from carburator drain plug. Replaced screw…….still leaking. Any help in how to fix the leak? I bought this quad used. I found a skematic of the carburator that shows a drain tube. My kodiak does not have this tube. Should I have the tube and if so where does the tube go once it leaves the carburator? Does it attach to something else of just drain to the ground? Any and all help appreciated.
