Renegade 840/vfj clutch update..

Alright fixed the bugs and got the bad boy running right.. Did the breakin period and after I did some hard launches and full throttle runs.. I have a vfj primary and a stock secondary with a stiffer spring. I noticed my shift out was at 7400. I’ve read my bikes peak shift out is suppose to be 6800-6900, but is that the same for an 840?

If not what rpm should I shoot for and where should I add the weight at?

After about 5 full throttle runs, I noticed a loud ticking sound at the top of my head. I think it’s the valves needing to be readjusted after the breakin and everything settling. I’ll dig into that tomorrow

what will wear out next?

I have an 09 Renegade and my timing chains started making noise so I rebuilt the motor and changed the stretched chains. My question what is going to be the next thing that will wear out? Will it be bearings, brakes, axels,or? I also while my motor was out noticed my u joint in my back shaft off the motor had a cap cracked on it. I am waiting for my new u joint so I can put my motor in. Just would like to fix things while it is tore apart.

Rear diff pinion came loose

Hey fellas

Just got back from a 4 day ride at hatfield McCoy trails in West Virginia. Had a blast and the renegade ripped hard until half way through the last day. Started hearing a noise and progressively got louder and then I realized rear pinion was loose and the noise was the caliper rubbing the brake pads when the pinion was in a bind under throttle. Well being 50 miles from the truck I needed to get my gade back. Drove it all the way back taking it easy and stopping to cool down and check on it. Well when I got back it started to fling my fresh amsoil synthetic gear oil everywhere lol.

Got it take apart today and the splines on the diff feel good. The splines on the drive shaft look okay but if you rub it they kinda feel sharp where they might have got a little boogered from driving with it loose.

What do you guys think is the best fix. Get a new deal for the diff, and bolt for the pinion And roll on once I make sure there isn’t any shavings in the oil? Or does more have to be replaced. I will look at he pads and rotor and see if they need replaced as well. Thanks for your help. Here are pics I took

Hard acceleration smoking

I have a 2013 renegade 1000. I noticed that when I hammer the gas it lets out a small amount of smoke. I would say light grey looking. It only smokes when I hammer the throttle. It does not smoke any other time. Runs like a champ all day.

My question is where should I start with the checks? I purchased this bike knowing it to be a project.I am just new to the can-am world.

I don’t have a problem rebuilding if need be, but I just need some direction on if I need to do a complete rebuild or a top end kit.

Thanks

New Iron Baltic Rear Rack – Pros/Cons

Well just received the rear rack from Iron Baltic $279. Not what I expected base off their product description (Heavy Duty Top Quality). I am not posting this to complain about the company, only to let the group know what to expect if someone was to make this purchase.

Pros:

Nice rigid aluminum frame

Great welds!!

Light weight

Perfect overall size and shape for the Gade (not too big and not too small)

Appearance from a distance looks nice

Cons:

Aluminum frame — warped (very poor quality)

1/4” gap between rack frame and bikes 4x mounting points (very poor quality) (need to shim)

5/8” deck platform — warped deck and around the overall outer perimeter (very poor quality) (heat gun req’d to straighten)

Large 3/8” chamfer on all edges — product description shows edge to be sharp (no large chamfer)

Large 3/8” chamfer on all edges – Extremely rough finish (very poor quality) (need to chase all openings and outer edge with router)

Outer sides walls and cutout side walls – Extremely rough finish (very poor quality) (Stuck with it)

I think they need a new CNC mill with a few more RPM’s and use a quarter of the feed rate. You can see the surface finish quality of the close up I took of the one cutout.

So, just heads up if you decide to purchase this rack.

Tomorrow I will decide if send it back or keep it and fix it. Like I said it is a perfect fit to the Gade. I will say it will not go on my bike looking like it does out of the box.

Great intent, poor quality.

First picture was taken from the product add (yellow seat). I WISH MY RACK LOOKED LIKE THIS ONE
The rest of the pictures are from the actual rack I received and my bike.
