Should there be any play in the drive pulley shaft that the oneway clutch rides on??? I pulled my oneway clutch/bearings today. After pulling the clutch sleeve off the shaft, I grabbed the shaft and lifted up and down and noticed a little bit of play in the shaft. It "clunks" up and down a little bit. Is this normal??? I’m just wondering if this may have contributed to the mayhem I found inside my clutch sleeve???
On another note, my sliding sheave has a very shallow groove worn in it towards the inside edge where the shaft is. Please take a look at these pics. Is this normal??? If it’s not normal and is due to wear from my clutch coming apart, will it cause me any problems to put it back together like it is??? Do I have to replace the sliding sheave or can I get away with still using it? Thanks!
I can’t afford to dump any more $$$ into this thing than I have to. I already have to find new springs and cups for the clutch, along with a new retaining clip for the one bearing.
Ahhhh I hate actually having to check into this. I just got a 2016 outlander max xt. I hit a few rocks in the front plastic bash plate… Broke the plastic a bit.
My million dollar question is if you look down the frame from front to back, is the frame supposed to perfectly straight the front half ? Or does is swoop up a little toward the front ?Attachment 29450
Well it’s no wonder this thing was having trouble shifting into/between gears! What can cause this kind of mess!?!?
There is no retaining clip on the oneway bearing (it’s gone, don’t know what happened to it). There was only one spring and part of one cup underneath the bearing (the other spring and cup are gone…I think you can see part of the spring stuck to the inside of the bearing sleeve). It appears as if the bearings are missing QUITE A FEW of the ball bearings (don’t know where those went).
This is the mess I found when I pulled the clutch and oneway. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this to come apart like this? Better yet, any suggestions on what I need to do to keep it from happening again???
I’m assuming the broken pieces are what contributed to some unusual wear on the inside of my drive belt.
I don’t know if you can see these pics. They show up when I view my post but when I click on them, the screen is just black.?.?
Does anyone know a good/cheap source for the springs and cups, along with the retaining clip??? Part numbers would be great! My local dealer can’t seem to be able to find anything without a part number.

Hey group… I just got the chance to use my new quad over the past week during hunting and curious if anyone else has run into this.
It happens most when I am going up and over whoopsy doos and on/off the throttle. Very light clunk coming from the rear. Its not horrible (yet) but being brand new, would like to get taken care of.
Just wondering of there are any known areas in the rear that dealers might forget to grease when they prep them?, or if possibly a common trait of these machines… Any thoughts or help would be great. Thanks.
Aight, taking myh 16′ 850XT back to the dealership with a few problems I’m having, wanted to get some input from you guys just so I can know what i can/should expect. First issue, belt noise. It seems pretty bad, sounds just like mud tires on pavement and it is LOUD. Did it with both sets of tires Ive had on it and it can be on any surface same noise. Drove my buddies 650XT and it was quiet. Secind issue, moisture/water in the speedo. Third issue, Hard/Binding shifting going into LOW and sometimes hard to get in other gears. It has come out of LOW on me a couple times.
Is PATV the only ones that make forward arched a arms? Going to be putting 31" outlaws on my 1K this year after I do my motor swap. I’m running 29.5’s now and they rub pretty hard on front when coming down hard or hitting something so looking for more clearance for 31’s
I have a 2014 Outlander 650 XT with low miles. When I bought it new the shifter was a little ‘stiff’ and I assumed it just needed to break in. However, it hasn’t smoothed out any and today while riding I had it pop out of low a couple of times. Also, when placing the quad in park I notice it likes to hang in reverse and I have to mess with the shifter a little to get it into park.
Shifter linkage need some adjustment? If so, any tips on doing this? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
