My 400EX Build

So I brought home a 2003 400EX this weekend, traded a kid for a nitro r/c that needed an engine. This is what I got:

I’ve ordered a whack of parts to start putting it together but looks like most of it is still there, included a White Brothers muffler and Moose Racing arms. Sadly, one arm is bent:

I’m going to strip it right down, check everything and replace what’s needed, that way I know what I’m working with. Main goal is to have a quick ride for when the snow melts, should be fun!!

Not a Honda build

I ended up trading a Rancher I was in the process of fixing up for resale. I came across a guy who wanted an Orange rancher for his wife. Fate had it he had a Polaris that he was willing to trade. My daughter wanted a Polaris like my wife’s, so I did the swap. I started removing parts to assess what I was going to need o get this thing in safe working order for my daughter to ride. It’s gonna need a few minor parts, brakes, steering bushing, tie rod ends, shift linkage, ignition switch. Also a few major parts, like the belt cover, starter, rear shock, pull starter assembly and tires. Nothing I can’t handle and I got as long as it takes to do it. Here are a few photos to start.

Tips for cutting plastic skid plates?

Hi Folks,
I’m about to install a winch on my 2016 4×4 Rancher, and I’m likely going to need to trim the skid plate.

I expect to have to modify it something like this:

What is the recommended method cut out the curve to allow the motor to extended past the skid plate?

Thanks in advance!

Few questions on accessories

I’m trying to add accessories to my Honda Foreman 500, and I had a few questions.

First off, I have a 24" LED light bar. I want to mount it to the front of the rack but I do not want to drill. The mount on the light is the L type with a single hole. Where can I find a mounting clamp or something similar to put on the rack bar? Also what is the diameter of the rack bar in the front? I’m thinking .5-.75"

In addition to the light bar, I have a wiring harness for it. I’m looking for advice on how to install it on the bike. Is there a housing I can get to mount it near the other switches? Maybe another switch you guys can recommend? I tried to attach a picture of the switch but it’s round with three prongs in the back. Thanks for any and all help!

1998 TRX300FW Restoration

So far everything has been going reasonably well after starting the pull down of the machine and assessing the work to do.

I removed the head and checked the valves and the Exhaust port needed some work. I ended up doing both and reassembled the engine.
Cranking now gives a reading of approx 150psi.

New parts for the carb are still on their way (overflowing) so I hope to have that sorted soon.

As for the spark issue.
Previously I’d noticed that the Neutral and Reverse switch wires were around the wrong way and when I reconnected then I had a spark. hmm, now I don’t.
I went though the manual and checked everything as best I could.

I couple of questions…

So the primary coil voltage should be at least 100v minimum. I’m assuming that this is testing at the two wires going into the coil? I’m getting no voltage reading here. The coil itself tests within spec.

I’d love someone to explain the "primary and secondary sides" to me please?

I’m guessing it’s coming down to the pulser coil now?
