cr250ex? 400ex / cr250r hybrid

Bought exactly as seen

it does vibrate a lot, idc puts a smile on my face when power band kicks in.
hard to kickstart because of nerfbar heel guard…

vibrated the bottom mount welds off, will fix, still got the front, top, and swing arm mount.
top mount and bottom mount are welded to the frame. front and swing arm mount are modified brackets/spacers

to do list: case saver
air box
fix bottom bracket possibly with a rubber bushing…

trx250r FMF header (tight fit) modified flange where it mounts to the cr cylinder

’00 400EX – aka Build #2

As I already hinted towards in another thread, I picked up another quad to fix up on the 24th. The original plan was to flip it after fixing it up some, but now it’s going to get a thorough overhaul and then be sold to a buddy of mine so we can both rip up the local trails.

Anyways, onto the pictures of it.:yeahbaby01:

Show me your rack

I’d like to get some ideas on what you guys have done to mount things to your racks. I’m looking to weld up something shortly to hold my bow case and maybe fuel, water and possibly a tray out the back to carry dead animals.

Some pics of what’s already been done would be great, thanks.

new to me 300ex

Need a few things as well as advice. This is the first quad I’ve ever owned so I need advice on weather to try to fix things or just buy used or new replacement parts.

First is the rear spindal on the left side.. the guy who owned it last put a nut that was slightly to big to hold the spindle on the axle.. therefore the threads are a little messed up… Is there a way to re-thread this? Or do I need to buy a new axle ? There is also some slop between the splines on the axle and the splines on the hub. I imagine its BC of being rode with a loose wheel.. is there a way to fix that or buy new or used as well??

Also I’m pretty sure the front A arms are not the factory ones there off a 400 in pretty sure and it has the ball joints stretched out and has a wobble to the front end when I hit a bump riding on the road. I figured I needed to buy factory 300 A arms but wanted some advice first ..
Oh yea I didn’t mention this but its most important. I am working with very limited funds. I have two small children and have the only income in our home. So anything that can be fabricated or "rigged" to work will have to work unless I absolutely need to buy new or used parts.

Thanks for all opinions and advice in advance..

Helpful Youtube: Dealing with Short Battery terminal bolts

Maybe this is old-hat to folks here, and you experts probably even have a better tip.

After installing a battery tender and winch on my rancher, the battery terminal bolts were too short to reach the nuts. I searched around a bit for non-corrosive longer bolts, but couldn’t find any.

The method shown the video allowed me to secure the nuts a bit closer to the screw and therefore reach the nuts and tighten down with ease:

Have have you dealt with this issue?
