Overall tire diameter ON bike……

I was just curious as to what the overall diameter of my Kenda Bearclaw HTR’s were ON the bike at the current pressure.

I have 26×11-14 HTR’s on the rear and at 4.5psi they measured 25.5". At 8psi they measured 26". I used a level placed on top of the tire and then measured from the ground through the center of the hub up to the level, which was level.

I’m assuming at 4.5psi the tire will "grow" at speed. Wonder how much it grows, say, at 60mph….?

Same width front and rear on outty?

Ok, so I just put a set of brand new zillas (27×11 and 27×9) on my brand new outty 850XT. I got about 4 hours into my first ride in the mountains and had holes in the sidewalls of both fronts. These tires were great on my old rancher but new machine is a whole new playing field. I am a very aggresive rider. All that being said, I’m changing up tires, and wheels while I’m at it to keep the light weight zillas(with tubes) for local mud and I’m going to buy a set of 14’s and tougher tires for the mountains. I’m thinking of maybe going with 27×9 all the way around?? Or should I go 27×9 front and 27×11 rear? I’m inbetween the pitbull growlers and the grim reapers. So if anyone could give me there opinion on widths and chime in to maybe help my decision on tires as well, I like the growlers better but the reapers weigh way less.

Max tire size for stock Outlander 650XT

Looking at getting a set of Mega Mayhems at 28/11/12 and 28/9/12. Am hoping to find out if they will fit on stock rims without a lift kit or spacers? Also since Mud Zillas are stock on the 650 XMR would they fit my 650 XT? Was hoping to avoid the Mud Zillas since they seem to throw rocks very badly. Are there any other tires of similar price point I should consider? I ride a little bit of everything mud, hard pack, sand, and road. They have to ride smooth on hard pack and pavement.

Need some advice! 28 inch outlaws of stock outlander?

Hey guys I need some advice. I have a 2007 can am outlander xt 800. I’m currently riding on 27 inch Mega Mayems but I want to upgrade to 28 inch outlaws. Would I need a lift to do this? I really don’t want to get a lift because I don’t feel like putting new axles in it. I ride fairly hard and do wheelies. Will to 28s rip my headlights out when I land from a wheelie? Any insight helps thanks!

Snow Tires for the 2016 Gade – Growlers-Intimidators-Zillas-Mayhems

Getting ready to get a set of snow tires and wheels for my 2016 Gade xxc 850. Most of my winter riding will be on snow packed roads, lakes/ice, and some deeper snow (and not the type of snow riding were I’m out to blow up the engine every time I ride). Just don’t want to make the wrong decision, so I thought I would run this by the group,

After a bunch of research I have narrowed it down to the (Made in USA) Pitbull Growler XOR UBER 27.5×9-14 in all four corners, with a 14-7 5+2 offset wheel (or possibly a 4+3 offset). If the there is a fitment issue with a 28" tire I can always drop down to a 27"

Is the distance on the hubs from side to side the same on the front and back. Just want to make sure if I get the same size tires and wheel offset they will track correctly? I don’t believe there would be any fitment issues with this set up, but please charm in if I am wrong. (even that the 27.5 Growlers run around the 28” mark).

For the wheels:
would I be happier with a 4+3 offset or a 5+2 on the 14-7 wheel. If the best set up is the 4+3, I could always run a 1” spacer with a 5+2. Not a lot of wheels to select from with a 4+3 offset without paying an arm and a leg. These will just be used in the winter so I don’t think I really need a beadlock wheel. Just something that looks good that will do the job.

(And Yes, a 12×7 wheel would perform better in the snow due to more side wall, but I really like the looks of the 14×7 with a 28” tire. And also the same narrow tire in the four corners for snow))

I have a set of 4x Mayhems 28×9-14 weighing in at 30# on my Sportsman 570, but hate how the ride at low speed. I like the reviews on the Zillas, but looking for a little better bite for the packed snow, and not sure if they have the same slow speed roughness as the Mayhems. The Intimidator 28×10-14 looks like it would be a nice tire for snow, but I cannot find any reviews on how it performs in the snow. Only that it is a nasty mud tire, that weighs in at 45#. And it does look pretty nice.

(In all four corners)
1st Choice = Pitbull Growler XOR UBER 27.5×9-14 (Made in USA)
2nd Choice = Pitbull Growler BG2.5 27×9-14 (but these are made in china)
3rd Choice = Intimidator 28×10-14 (??????)
4th Choice = Zillas 28×9-14
5th Choice = Mayhem 28×9-14
(Same wheel choice would apply for the above tie choices, 14-7 5+2 offset wheel (or possibly a 4+3 offset)

Again these would only be used as a winter snow tire, and am not overly concerned for winter riding with a performance loss due to a heavier tire.

Thanks so much for your input.
