Mega Mayhems vs Zillas

I know this topic has been beat to death and believe me I have read every possible thread I can find on the topic, however I’m still having a hard time deciding between these two tires.

I have a 2010 650 Max XT with stock tires. I got a sidewall puncture last weekend on some rocks and I’m using that as an excuse to get some decent tires. I feel like I have narrowed my choices to the 27" Mega Mayhems or Zillas. I live in Ontario, Canada and the majority of the riding I do is hard pack trails, dirt, rock crawling, water crossings, steep hills and whatever mud holes I come across on the trails. I also use the bike for ice fishing so snow traction is also important.

I’m not an extremely aggressive rider nor do I spin the tires or drift around corners. I want something that will do well in the mud but still be good in most trail conditions.

I have been leaning towards the Megas because from what I’ve read the sidewalls are stronger and the lugs appear to be closer together than the Zillas. This leads me to believe they may be better for rock crawling because less of the carcass is exposed like on the Zillas.

Has anyone run both of these and can offer a recommendation for the type of riding I do? I don’t go looking for mud but I’d like to be able to tackle whatever I encounter on the trail. Northern Ontario has a good amount of mud and rock and we travel up there a couple times a year.

Thanks!

Mudder Inlaw Review

Well I finally got a chance to put my 32" Mudder Inlaw tires to the test. The 2 inch top lug and 2.5 inch shoulder lug help.

Trails and hard pack:
These ride pretty smooth on hard pack. Way better then my backs and zillas did.

I gotta say that these did handle pretty well hauling butt down the trail. But the square tire profile doesn’t do as good as round profile tires when cornering.

Mud:
I am very happy with these. They pull good. Clean out good. Don’t dig as bad as backs. They do float good too. They pull great in reverse. This is part of the reason I was the only one not to get stuck all day.

For $800 to my door, I’m very happy.

Tire’s for 2015 Outty Max 1000 XT-P

Pretty soon hope to get some new tires for my Outty Max, i am for sure keeping the stock beadlock wheels, i really like them. Just wondering what will fit, what will not. Have no lift, so just stock. Just want a better more aggressive looking all around tire, was thinking 27-28", but not sure, was looking at the Blackwater Evo’s in 27×9,27×11. Heard alot of good about them, also the Mudlite XTR’s, etc. What would you recommend, and if you happen to have any pics of a Max with stock wheels and bigger tires, please post.
