92 polaris 250 2×4 2 stroke

hey new to the forum, semi new to atvs, this is my first polaris.

bought it and it was a total POS. spend a good chunk of change making it look pretty and throwing some new parts at it. and it looks great

well the past couple days here in south texas, its been getting a little chilly (50*-70* and im already wearing hoodies and freezing), and the polaris has been having a SUPER hard time starting. i figured a pinched fuel line or the carb was dirty, no big deal. so i pulled the carb, cleaned it up (it wasnt that dirty), and the hose wasnt kinked and the gas is brand new.

once it finally gets started…it runs fantastic

any ideas?

also it has been puking oil from the "direct injection" oil pump. all the lines are hooked up tight, its brand new oil and the lines arent kinked

any ideas or help would be awesome. thanks

Spent a little money today

Time to freshen up the brakes on the XP and X2. Ordered some new pads from Rocky Mountain ATV. I went with the standard EBC duty pads instead of the SV’s because I do not mud and the last SV’s I put on were very noisy. I think the sintered metal in the SV’s might be why they were so noisy. Spent 101 bucks and they show a deliver date of Nov 20th which is 2 day shipping since I ordered today at 5PM central time.

Rotted hose

Hi guys,

I started up my 2009 Sportsman 500 HO for the first time in almost 2 years today. It started up fine and I rode it around the neighborhood. As I was parking it, a piece of rotted black hose fell from the engine compartment. The inside of the hose was dry. I tried to look for where that hose came from and it appears that it came from the prop shaft area. Can anyone tell me what this hose is for and where it goes to? I can’t find the other end of this hose. Does this mean that whatever fluid that was supposed to go through here is now spilled out and I must refill it? Thanks for any help you guys can give.

94 polaris 400L 4×4 wont start real head scratcher

hello im new here and new to polaris got a real head scratcher here hopefully im in the right place but i have a 94 polaris 400L 4×4 that wont start after several hours of messing with it i had it running for a few minutes wasnt running that great either and smoked like crazy .. heres the low down compression is 120psi the carb has been rebuilt fully taken apart and cleaned 3 times with air compressor i can see threw all the jets..spark plug comes out wet kinda oily looking though, air filter brand new, spark plug brand new, has good spark, has fresh gas , carb is getting gas has new fuel filter. has new reed valve. exhaust on or off dont make a difference either way. the etc switch tested normally closed and opens when the button is pushed and throttle is adjusted right.. i tested this really good. the guy i got it from wasnt using the oil injection he just cleaned it out. i was thinking it was maybe sucking air so i clamped it off with vice grips didnt help either. im in the process of trying to pull the fly wheel but its stuck on. i can see the key way looks in tack and with the piston top dead center the key way is almost in line with the piston rod not sure if it should be like perfect or not but its a little bit behind. i cant get the flywheel off so far so that was how i was checking to see if it was in the right place . one thing i did notice is there is spark at the plug even with the run switch on off it looks like a more steady spark but it does spark. also quad seems to want to start sometimes if i block off the carb intake with my hand while cranking it.and the neutral ligt works also tried pushing the overide button while cranking. im stumped please help

2004 sportsman 400

I have a 400 sporstman 2004 when driving it sometimes it will cut off just like the key was turned off after it stops rolling I can turn key and it will start right up and run fine for days now when I trailered it home it will not start the speedometer is blank like there’s no battery it………any ever had this problem?

Ignition switch Positions

I just bought a 2003 Sportsman 700 and I’m wondering what all 3 position for the ignition switch do. 1 and 2 seems to be just on, 3rd turns the gauge and rad fan on, then or course the starter. The other position don’t kill the engine. The kill switch is the only thing to kill the engine. can anyone shed any light for me? The wiring has definitely been messed with.

2003 600 sportsman no spark!

Hello I’m new to the site and have read some very good posts, recently I picked up an 03 600 sportsman with only 1400 miles on it , trouble is it has no spark and the original owner gave up on it , It has the Dreaded Ducati ignition syestem , I haven’t got a manual yet and was hoping for a little advice as the where to start looking ! Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers

Check engine light

Went riding this past weekend and got some water in my transmission. Drained it bike worked great. Check engine light came on 30mins later. Ideas on what it could be? Also, is there any way I can figure out the code by turning the key a number of times, like in a car? Just don’t wanna trailer it all the way to a shop. Thank you.
