Ok, So I’m interested in replacing the grips on the Hawkeye. I haven’t been out for long enough when it was cold enough to warrant heated grips, but that doesn’t mean it’s out of the question.
Really what I’m looking for is something that is more comfortable, and provides better grip than the worn down stock grips that I have. So, Please post suggestions (links are appreciated) for stock replacements.
The only requirement, is that they need to be black in color.
Just got my snow plow all put together and took it out last night to see how it will work at night. Needless to say the lights are covered up while the plow is raised. So the pod light becomes more useful now. I actually did the 3 light mod which I think I’ll un-do since the headlights are blocked and I can use the extra wattage running the winch not to mention if I really need more lights I use my LED light bar anyway. So my question is can anyone recommend a really bright replacement light for the pod light?
Hey there new to this fourm thing still learning ,anyway
I’m wondering has anyone swapped out there break lever and thumb
Lever for a billet coloured aluminum or know where I could find them if I wanted to install them any help is great thanks they would be going on a 2013 sportsman 500ho
Thought I’d take some pictures of the newer Glacier Pro mount before I install it on the plow frame. Seems like a great improvement over the older version that kept breaking the welds. In picture 2 you can see the shaft runs straight back to the spring loaded mounting hooks and is held in front by a bracket. In picture 3 shows the spring loaded hooks. Picture 4 shows the two nylon wheels and the larger portion on the red rod that when locked in prevents the rod from moving forward and releasing. Last picture shows that by simply pulling on the red rod the rod pulls the rear hooks back and releases the mount. All in all it looks like it should hold up.
I have a mid-mount plow and wanted to have an accurate way to know how close I was to max lift height without having to bump against anything suddenly and not have to lose any more lift height from what was added to be bumped against:
Now I know people will say "get a front mount plow and you won’t have this issue". In hindsight I wish I had, but I did this because it is what I had to work with. And I know there are still lots of people with mid-mounts that have posted with the same concern, so I’m sharing my solution.
Last Friday I installed some Viking bumpers and today went out with friends and family for some fun riding.
The good, while pulling out my other Sportsman, with my son-in-law on it, that was stuck up to frame in mud, I stopped and he didn’t, Bang! head on!
Score 1 for the bumper.:veryhappy:
Then later I was following, same son-in-law, threw about six feet of mud with a steep incline at the end. Son-in-law goes threw no problem, I follow and get past mud to incline and Bang! Hit the dirt of incline with the bumper instead of going up, I almost went over handle bars!:owned:
-1 for bumper.
So, now what? :nixweiss:
Guess I’ll just have to get used to the extra clearance factor up front.
Still had a great day, weather was perfect. Tomorrow we are supposed to drop 20 degrees and I think summer is finally over, but time will tell.
Is it normal that gear don’t engage when I switch? It happened to me 3 times and one of the times instead of being in "L" for low it displayed "–" and when I switch to a different gear it engaged. I heard a light rattle when I hit the throttle. The sportsman 570 2015 is 2 weeks old
Alright guys, my step dad drove the Rancher into a large pond. I was changing the rear diff. oil today when I knocked the bolt head right off the threaded part. Because vice grips wouldn’t work I had to drill it out. Turns out, the drill knocked the threaded part into the differential itself and it sat right on top of the oil drain hole. I went to Ace Hardware to get this magnetic tool a while ago and I tried it today. I put the tool in through the oil pouring whole and wiggled it down to the bottom. I pulled it out and viola!! I don’t have the package anymore but I do have a picture. This thing might save you a lot of time like it did for me.
Not sure what you guys call it if not wading so sorry if I got the wrong terminology….. The manual says it’s safe up to the foot boards, I’m guessing there is a fair safety margin there, how deep can I go without snorkels (sportsman 850)
