07 Grizzly 700 unexplained power loss

My brother in law is having trouble with his 07 700. Hits 70kmh in high and low. Hits 110 on jack stands so CVT is not the issue. Not developing enough power to get top speed while driving.

He replaced the piston and rings over the winter but I don’t think that is the issue. Has a brand new correct spark plug which still looks fine. No smoke from the exhaust amd no gas in the oil. No obstruction in the intake. Injector test produces the 5 clicks it’s supposed to. Fuel pump pickup sock is clean. Runs fine at idle and low speed but will not develop enough power to hit the top end. Hits the gumband in low, does not cut out or miss in high, just runs out of steam. He had cleaned the injector with carb cleaner when he had the motor pulled apart. Anyone run into something like this before? I’m thinking either fuel pump or injector. Local shop is trying to get him to do a leak down test but there’s no way that worn rings would be costing this much power and not smoking.

Northern Alberta riders, maybe wait for some rain

There’s several large, out of control forest fires burning near Fort Mac, Red Earth and High Level. There are hundreds of other small fires burning around the province. There’s a brush fire 7 miles north of my house that’s into the peat moss and they can’t put it out. This is the earliest fire season I can remember here. I was going to post about a quad rally near Kinuso this weekend but it’s been postponed due to the dry conditions. Normally I’m not too concerned as we are pretty careful to check our exhausts for fires and we’ve never had an issue. I used to always figure they are exaggerating when it comes to their warnings. But it’s f*cking dry this year. Be careful.
