Earth Anchor or any other ideas????

Saw this over at Cabela’s. Often wondered what I (we) would do if we ever got stuck but had nothing to winch or rope to. Thought that this may be of assistance. Heard on another forum some years ago that Rebar works if you use 3 pieces, 2 as an X (bury them pretty deep if possible) then place the 3rd straight up and down directly behind the X. Hook your winch or rope up to it and supposedly it works. Never seen it in action nor have I ever tried it.

I have to imagine some of you guys, or gals, have been in this situation before. What have you done or used. What other ideas are out there for a predicament such as this? Take a look at this Earth Anchor. I’d love to see what you have tried, done, seen, or created. Share your thoughts and or ideas.

My Sportsman 570 died

As background, I bought a used 2014 Sportsman 570 with about 570 miles /50 hrs. I did fluid changes, new brake pads, tires, and anything else I could think of for routine maintenance.

It’s been running fine until today. Without any warning or odd behavior, it lost power and sputtered out as if it had run out of gas (gas was at three quarters tank).

Motor was hot, which might or might not have anything to do with it. It acted like a vapor lock, gas filter clog, or fuel pump failure. I undid the gas cap to make sure it wasn’t a vacuum buildup due to a venting issue.

It would not immediately restart. After sitting for about 10 minutes it fired up after a bit of grinding away on the starter.

It then ran for a few minutes and again sputtered to a halt. This repeated several more times until my tow arrived to get me home.

Where should I start to try and sort this out. I’m pretty sure it’s a gas delivery issue and not ignition or electrical.

Thanks

Rancher 350 TE Wheel/Tire Questions

I have a 2000 Rancher 350TE. It has the original tires on it, which are worn after 1350 miles. I will be hunting near a swamp in SE GA and want to get a more aggressive tire. I decided on the Kenda Bear Claws. I plan on getting the factory height/width. I also decided to get an after market aluminum wheel. Seems like the only size wheels they have are 12×7 or 14×8 for front and rear. Back spacing seems to be close to factory spec. Would you do a 12×7 for both or a 14×8 in the rear? Stock wheels are 12×6 and 10X8.5.

I have done several searches on this on Google, but new to forum, so forgive me if this has been posted before. i would like your recommendations/comments on rim size and tire selections. Also, is the benefit of a lighter rim even noticeable on the Rancher 350?

Looking at buying an 03 660

Hello,
I am looking at buying (well trading) for a 2003 Yamaha Grizzly for my wife to ride. I currenty own 2 hondas and an Artic cat. This Yamaha will hopefully replace my Artic cat and get my wife more into riding. We hit the trails in NH on the fourth but she was having alot of trouble shifting the Artic Cat.
So…That brings me here.
Found an 03 Grizzly 660. I am trading a truck worth roughly 3-3500$ for it. Seems to be going rate on CL from the few I found. It has a winch.
The only known issue the owner said is the neutral safety switch only works sporadically but it starts fine by holding the brakes or something. I would like to address that if the deal goes through as my wife will be riding it.
Also I have to look at it tomorrow so what should I keep an eye out for ? Any known issues ?
I am a heavy truck mechanic so I know my way around tools etc.
Any help/advice would be great. Thank you.

2000 grizzly 600

I was working on the carb of my 600 anddang if I can remeber how this darn air duct goes back in? I know it hooks up to the crankcase cover in the back. Just can’t figure out how it goes in. It is part number 23 and 26. Any body have a picture of it installed that they can show me?

I would like to start out by saying this seems to be a very well layed out forum. And hopefully informative and educational along with fun. I have browsed through many different threads in search of a 04 330 magnum wiring diagram that is point to point connections with colors and such . I did an engine swap last night and went from a 330 to a 325 . Ran great two different times . Then this afternoon my cdi let the factory smoke out !!! I feel it maybe my fault switching from one engine to the other. hookin the wires back up incorrectly.long and short does anyone have a diagram thanks Dan

1987 trx 350 fuel pump problems

Hey fellas my first post so I apologize if I’m not doing this right.. I recently bought a 1987 Trx 350D fourtrax foreman owner said it hasn’t ran in years picked it up for $200! Oil change, new plug, some gas and a battery and it fired up.. Now the fuel pump has been giving me grief it has been working on and off randomly. One wire of it pulled out of it so I condemned it ruined. Called local dealer and they want $166 so I said no since I hardly paid that much for it. Bought a regular inline 12v pump at autozone hooked everything up to original wires and ran great. Soon after I realized has coming from the carb vent hoses.. So I need a way to regulate this or control the flow. Any ideas? It’s only like 3-9 psi pump

COOLING FAN VENT/BREATHER HOSE

It makes sense if the fan motor gets hot, that the vent line would allow hot air to escape. But, is it more of a drain vent ? After disassembling my burnt out fan i noticed that the entire back was sealed up pretty damn good, combination of resin and sealant, but water still managed to get in there , get under the terminal cap and corrode the terminal contact, and those were sealed as well. So, would it be wise to seal / RTV any seams , cracks or areas on the motor housing that water could get into to further waterproof it ??? except the breather tube of course ….Im racks deep everyweekend !!!
