XP Big axles, how to fit.

Meant to make a post about this a while ago.
For anyone upgrading to axles with bigger cups the steering knuckles need some modification.
You will need to borrow/rent a dremel or cut off tool with an aluminum bit, and remove the 4 nubs and open them up a bit.
The tool removes a lot fast and should take 20min/knuckle, test to fit, make sure cv boots are not rubbing.

PS makes a big mess, so throw some drop sheets down first.

Renegade xmr header ss glowing

I just noticed this but honestly it’s the first time I’ve really looked at it at night but under a constant rev the first 6-8 inches of both headers are glowing red. I haven’t checked it idling because I immediately shut it down.

I just installed exo series wrap from where the rear header connects to the front header back past the slipon area so the full exhaust is not wrapped. I’ve read in a few areas online that in some cases this is normal

Clutch tuning

I am about to get started modifying a PVT Polaris clutch. I want to understand what I am doing rather than just replacing parts. I have read a fair amount but am not absorbing the info well. Does anyone know of a video or tuning handbook? I want to tune it to my riding style. I am not looking for a installation video. But more like a animated schematic video. I want to better understand the effects of changes

Defender XT Cab Issues ( August 2016)

Hi, new to the site. From NE Wisconsin. Thought I might find some info here from other Defender fans. I do have issues to report. Have the camo XT cab, loaded with many options. 170 miles so far, it has good potential but these are the problems to date:

1) Oil leak. Factory Area rep working with dealer week 7/25/16 to pull motor & tranny. O-ring between motor and transmission not installed correctly from factory. I am told other Defenders have the same issue once a few miles get on them.

2) Excessive cab heat, must keep window open, with lots of ventilation flow this side of 30 degrees F when heater is off. Machines built before mine (June 2016) had a recall, the fan for the heater never shut off completely when you turned heater off. I do not have that issue. But with heater off, excess heat still radiates in cab thru dashboard firewall and/or engine/clutch area. No way can you run machine with windows up and it being 50 degree F or more outside. Having side windows down does not come close to making it cool enough. Have to run with front window open, and side window down. Real bummer when raining out. Dealer filed report with Can-am. No fix to date.

3) Door handles work hard for people up in their years. Latches seem to be locked to most who try to open them from either inside or out. Dealer has no fix.

4) Optional high mount Front receiver hitch not a solid tube design. It is a seam design that not perfectly manufactured. Standard 2 inch 51mm receiver hitches do not fit into the receiver. It tappers down to be to tight toward the rear. If you would pound a hitch in it, you would never get it out.

5) Door skin, driver side, came from factory with minor damage. Looks to be banding marks from CanAm door skin provider. Likely skins are delivered banded to a pallet. New door is back ordered, no delivery date obtainable.

I keep the faith, just letting you know potential issues and what to watch out for and ask about when you are buying/taking delivery of your machine. Also, if you have gotten similar issues resolved, I would love to hear about it.

On the plus side, she is fast, powerful, stable, easy to steer, and looks great with all the bumper options and side racks. I do like the power dump too.
