After searching and searching for the resistor pack for these newer Sportsmans because it’s an obsolete part number because it’s a sealed unit and in order to replace it you have purchase the entire harness, I finally found a resistor pack harness kit. I ran diag on the speedo display and my "low" position was out of spec. I replaced my gear position sensor last year, and it fixed only half of the problem. Anyway, here is the ebay item, Electrical Resistor Module Harness Kit 2014 Polaris Sportsman 400 2204890 | eBay
If any of you are having the same problem as me, then I recommend running gear circuit diag and shifting through the gears to make sure your resistor pack is working correctly and keeping the ohms within spec. You’ll need your service manual in order to get the correct ohm specs.
Maybe I’ve been living under a rock but it took me forever to hunt this part down. RZR’s and other various models had a connector style resistor pack that was replaceable but not mine.
I noticed my Grizzly 450 was leaking oil. Upon further inspection, I found the nut and washer holding the driveshaft in place had come off. Luckily I found the washer and have replaced the nut, but cannot do the nut up with any spanners or sockets as none will fit in such a small space! How on earth can I tighten this up!? Is there a special tool or technique!?!? Please help! Pics attached…
ATV will start but acts like it has a misfire, loads up and smells rich of fuel.
if your genital you can clear it out and it will run good except it seems load on the top end like valve chatter.
I replaced plugs. found wear into the copper on the mass air sensor wires. repaired wires. cleaned and then replaced mass air sensor. checked valves but looks like they are not adjustable with hydraulic lifters.
pulled fuel tank and cleaned. inspected fuel pump and cleaned screen. looks like good fuel flow from injector line. put ATV back together. starts but misfires in reverse now.
I’ve posted this thread on the Renegade section, but thought it would be useful to get an opinion from Outlander riders (plus there are more people currently viewing!).
To cut a long story short, I’m a current 2012 Outlander XMR 800 owner from the UK (Surrey), and could really do with some advice regarding my next purchase! Having competed in Croatia Trophy this year my bike is pretty battered and has been unreliable, and I’m tempted with a good deal I’m being offered on a 2016 Renegade 570 X XC – I’m drawn to the reliability of the G2 over the G1 as well as the 3 year warranty as I have limited time (and expertise) to do a great deal of mechanical stuff myself so this is a pretty big factor for me.
I have a slight concern though – a couple of people have mentioned that the SWB of the Renegade will make the steep ascents / descents and off camber stuff more tricky / less stable – I’ve only ever experienced the LWB XMR Outlander so I’d be really interested on rider experiences of this before I push the button on the purchase. My riding terrain when we compete is pretty extreme so don’t want to make life more difficult or dangerous!! My riding partner uses a LWB Outlander so I need to make sure that he doesn’t end up with an advantage over me or I’ll end up slowing him down in a competitive event.
I do like the idea of something more agile and lighter, and I think I’m less concerned about the power as I tend not to use it on the road or for fast xc, it’s more around the ability on the technical stuff. However I would also be interested in opinions on this.

Where can I find a Fuel Controller/Programmer for a 2016 Outlander L450 Max?
Also maybe an Exhaust system to help it flow better and get the Heat Down.
Thanks.Zr

I’m a current 2012 Outlander XMR 800 owner from the UK (Surrey), and could really do with some opinions regarding my next purchase! Having competed in Croatia Trophy this year my bike is pretty battered but more importantly has been slightly unreliable over the last 12 months. I’ve been offered a good deal on a new 570 Renegade X XC and am considering changing – I’m drawn to the reliability of the G2 over the G1 as well as the 3 year warranty, as well as the agility of a Rene over a heavier Outlander XMR.
I have a couple of concerns – the riding I do is pretty extreme and am planning on competing again next year at the Croatia Trophy event – having never ridden a SWB, am I going to find less stabiility with the SWB of the Rene over the LWB XMR? I’d be interested in people’s experiences of whether the Rene is a bit ‘tippy’ when going up / down the really steep stuff?
