Just noticed there is a sale on Elkas on their website for a set of stage 3 or stage 1. I’m not in the market for them right now but if I were it seems like a good time to buy .
been having some problems with att/yahoo/thunderbird mail which makes for poor response to e-mail sent to me. i have no problems with my pc since i sent the first message. it was of some concern to me, not anymore. give it time, and my response to mail sent from this site will reach you. att/yahoo is troublesome anymore. i got to sign/sigh in three times before it will even work.. takes about 5 minutes. i thought mail would get better after high-speed. not so. //Ed AT&T is over-rated an overcharged.

Hi, I’m new to the forum. Been trollling here for a few few weeks while I’ve been troubleshooting this 400. Heres what I have. It’s a 1996 Sportsman 400 4X4 2 stroke. Here’s the issue I’m having. It starts right up, idles fine. I give it a little gas and its loading up, at about half throttle it clears up. The carburetor is spitting gas out the back. I’ve rebuilt the carb, new needle and seat, jets. Ive replaced the reeds also. Would a bad crank seal cause this issue? When its running I can see a ton of gas hitting the bottom of the slide. Any info will greatly be appreciated.

Assured my wife I could get the oil changed in my 2013 Sportsman 550EFI before the kids are done with school.
Easy job and everything is going great, but the filter is stuck.
No big deal I run to NAPA and get the 65mm filter cap wrench.
No dice.
I decide to use the old screwdriver method. I get my hammer ready and hear a satisfying snap as I go through the first wall of the filter, I have to hit it harder to get it all the way through, but no big deal.
However, it still won’t spin.
I finally drill and drive some screws through the cap wrench into the filter. This works, and it comes right off. At this point I call my wife over to show her how smart I am. Only the smartest species use and make tools!
Fill it up and all the oil leaks out. Hmm…
Looks like when I put the screwdriver through the filter, I hammered it hard enough to put a pencil sized hole right through the case. Change oil, put a hole in the case. Any ideas for that?
Can anyone top screwing up an oil change worse than that?!??

im lookin for a new machine its either gonna be a 2016 grizz or a 2012 brute with 200 miles and in new condition. the grizzly has everything over the brute except power and well I love power. is the grizz worth 2,000.00 more im not worried about resale value. the only things keeping me from the grizz is reliability of a first year machine and lack of power. I did read some posts of people complaining of stalling , hot legs , hot storage , running lean well you get the point. I have had 2 brutes in the past both were problem free. I trail ride and mud so whatever I get will get snorkeled and at least 28" tires. im only interested in the 2016 grizz no other years. I find 2007-2015 to be very uncomfortable. the 2016 feels like my old 2004 grizz. how has your 2016 grizz held up ?
Got a brand new carb for this thing but there are no screws for adjusting anything except for one on the very bottom on the engine side of the carb. No idea what that actually adjusts, as it seems to make no difference at any position, all in, all out or anywhere in the middle.
It has a dead spot right off idle where it’ll actually die if you try to just feather the throttle up to about 20% or so. If you quickly go past that point off idle, it’ll run and rev up like it should but it also seems to have issues at close to max throttle. It only likes midrange.
It starts and idles fine.
FYI the machine is new to me and I got it from a guy who said it needed a carb. It seemed to have the same issues with the original carb as well which I figured a new one would remedy.
