When I got my quad the temp sensor on the radiator was connected to nothing, I’m guessing that 2 wires (red with black and another one) that had been stripped of plug are the wires that should connect there. I hooked them up the other day, but the fan never came on despite intentionally riding slowly up hill on a pretty hot muggy day.
1. How much do the fans typically run on these 400’s?
2. I don’t have a dash or dash lights so I don’t have an over-heating warning system so I want to fix this stat
3. Does anyone have a basic wiring diagram and know how the fan wiring is set up so I can trace it start to finish for problems and sort it out?
I know I can hook 12v up to the fan to test it, and that I can test the sensor for continuity when it’s hot, but since I don’t know the temp the bike is at or when that sensor should cut it, I’m a bit in the dark on trouble shooting the whole circuit.
Hi. First time I’ve ever posted to a forum or anything like this. I have a 96 300 express. 2 stroke. I’ve removed the oiler and mix my own gas. It started running poorly a while back and my son told me that he had to have the choke on for it to run. Checked spark and it seemed fine. Wouldn’t start so I figured an old carb was having problems. Put a new plug and carb kit in it. I will only start if I have my hand over the inlet of the carb, then it dies. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hey folks, just got a 03′ Kodiak 400 4×4. I haven’t gotten around to putting a fresh battery in it. but with the old dead one it usually pull starts just fine, but I noticed the other day that when I ride it a little, then shut it off, if I go to pull start it again it’s HORRIBLE… like rip my shoulder out of the socket, too much compression tight and basically impossible to re-pull start.
I’m wondering if this is typical of these or maybe if it’s indicative of a valve adjustment issue, or some other thing I should be aware of?
I am confident that the bike is in neutral, and it is not so bad to pull start when it’s been sitting overnight, just after it’s been ridden a bit. Thoughts?
Hello All, I just got back from my first big ride with my new machine on the Paiute trails in Utah. Before I went I set my sag up for Michigan(no rocks). I have my ’16 Renegade xxc set up for around 30% sag or 8" ground clearance with my weight. My problem was, that when in Utah my machine was running across rocks and boulders constantly on the bottom. My new Ricochet skids look like my 8 year old ones on my Grizzly. Is this normal or do you guys raise the preload all the way up to increase ground clearance when you know you’re going to be ridding in rocky terrain? I love the way the machine handles without rocks, just not while in rocks(kinda dangerous)!! Your thoughts??? Thanks in advance!!!!
Hello all, I figured I join the forum now that I own a 2016 Honda Rancher 4×4 IRS Automatic DCT. I am really happy to have this quad right before deer hunting season begins in 12 days. Now I am looking for a bow mount and rifle boot and probably some type of bag for the rear rack. I will look search around the forum before asking questions just in case someone already posted it before.
and I hope to also contribute to the forum as I learn about my quad.

I guess I need help, How do I determine what model number my 600 sportsman is? I need to buy a new gas tank, when I go to the web site and pick the 600 I am asked if it is a "A04CH59AF" or a "A04CH59AK",,,,, I can not find anywhere on the machine where it tells me which one of these belongs to this machine. can someone please enlighten me?
