We all know about the heat issues with the Can Am’s about melting plastic and the HOT leg syndrome. Well it goes a little deeper (or farther back) on the 6×6’s. I may have mentioned in a post last year about a heat problem in the storage compartment under the bed and how I fixed that problem with an added heat shield between that area and the exhaust. Well today my brother was cleaning his 6×6 and he saw some melted plastic oozing around a bed nut and he called me and I checked mine and sure enough I had the same thing. Then checking further, a portion of the bed that is directly above the muffler & tailpipe was melted away from the frame. My legs do get hot, but so far it hasn’t bothered me enough to try to eliminate the problem, but now with this I guess I need to do something about it. I will probably wrap the pipe and I am looking at Thermo-Tec 11600 Clamp-On Pipe Heat Shield to attach to the muffler. If anybody has any suggestions on the muffler/tailpipe on how best to shield them or if they have used the thermo-tec, I would appreciate any input. Thanks…
My next project on my sportsman 700 will be the clutch. I see varying options on stock versus aftermarket on the clutch components, what about drive belts? Are some better than others? Prices are all over the map on these.
Newbe here I have a 84 Honda 200es has been setting in a barn for 5 years got it running /New carb- New cid- new manafold- checked timming looks right- comp 150. Starts right up idles fine but woun’t rev up no power & when you try to give it gas it is spitting gas out the carb could this be a valve prob. .

Guys just putting in a winch on my 2012 Sportsman 500 HO. I ordered the the KFI 100740 bracket. Couple questions, first when i set the winch in the bracket and center it the right side of the winch sticks out beyond the protection bar (see pic). Is this ok/. Is the winch not going to get damaged? Second problem is the winch has to bolt holes to connect it to the bracket, of course the holes don’t match up. Do I just drill new holes? And is 2 bolts enough?Attachment 59362

Do the Max models may have fewer choices when it comes to carrying cargo such as coolers etc.. for all day rides ? I’m sorry for all the newbie questions but, I’m trying to sort out all the options we will have for carrying of "Stuff" when we ride. Any advise Pictures would be appreciated !
