Hello from Delaware!

I’m a retired auto tech who has been working on motorcycles, atv’s and small engines for a long time now. I own a ’95 Magnum 4X4. It was a barn find, in good cosmetic shape, but needed MUCH regular maintenance and some real repairs.
I like it pretty good, here is a picture.

Possible overheating/loss of all power

I have 00 scrambler 400 4×4 i was riding with a weak connection to the battery when i think it overheated from no radiator fan. I lost all power and even with a new battery installed Ive never had it start again. I also had replaced on/off switch and head light and over ride box from 98 model scrambler on mine. But even spraying ether while electrical lights and fan come on it wont even try to start. Its like the off switch is still on. Motor has compression and pull or electric start do nothing. Also has new cdi box for sportsman 500 on it. Head lights work fan comes on when switch and key are on. Appreciate any input and advice.

2012 ranger wheels/tires fit 89 sportsman?

Hello, was browsing the web looking for info when I came across this forum and am hoping someone can help. I have a 98 sportsman 500 I am resurrecting from poor health and in need of new tires/rims and am trying to find out if 2012 ranger tires/rims would fit without any issues. Havent been able to find much about this so far, and I already screwed up the title of my first post by saying "89" sportsman, DOOH 🙂

Thanks

2 stroke Scrambler 90 – clutch, belt?

I have a 2001 scrambler with what I believe is a clutch issue.

It will take off pretty good pointed down hill, but when starting out on a hill or under load, it will just bog and barely move.

I just installed a new belt – its a 780 16.5 30. Not 100% sure if this is correct – purchased on ebay listed for Scambler 90, no year given.

The old belt was a 788 17 30 and it did want to pull away a little when setting at idle. So I think the previous owner might have installed a slightly thicker belt.

Anyway, ever since I got this 4 wheeler, the bottom end has been weak. Can’t pull out of a ditch or spin tires from a stop. Motor itself seems fine since it will rev quickly going down hill or level to start out.

I have never taken the clutches apart and wonder if I am on the right track. I believe it is in the primary. Might find time this weekend to get it apart.

Thanks

04 700 Sportsman with Carb

I am new to the forum and just recently purchased this ATV. I have fixed quite a few things thus far but one thing I am battling is getting it to idle consistently. The previous owner told me it may have some bad fuel in it. It ran great just didn’t idle. Here is what I have tried thus far. I drained the gas tank from the fuel shut off and added fresh fuel with seafoam. I ran that whole tank out and it did not help. I now have gas with mechanic in a bottle added to it. Sometimes it will idle sometimes it won’t. Today when riding I was at about 3300 rpm and it was sputtering pretty good. Then a few min later it acted like it was running out of fuel. I was able to feather the throttle and keep it running. If I get it above 3600 rpm it runs great. To me it seems like maybe the idle jet is partially blocked. It looks like getting the carb off will be quite the job. Is there another additive I can try before pulling the carb? Am I on the right track? I am open to all ideas and suggestions. I know I need to replace the spark plugs (which look like a pain to get to as well) I plan to do that this week. Anyone have the NGK part number for plugs?

Thanks in advance for the help. Sorry so long.
