2012 sportsman 500 ho carburetor

Fuel not flowing through Carb to engine at first atv would start and run at idle but when you try to throttle the engine it would just go dead like it’s run out of gas but it would start right back up so I let it sit for 3 days and now it won’t start at all any suggestions on how to fix it or do I need a new carb

91 Fourtrax 300 Carburetor Question

The Honda Service manual shows the Carbs for the 88-92 TRX 300 Fourtrax
as VE90A/C/D/E with different jetting thru 88-92
Looks like they flip-flopped aback and forth with jetting thru those years.
Does anyone know if the castings are the same on the A thru E carbs or does the jetting have to be specific on each individual model?
Looks like they finally settled on #125 main jet, #40 Slow jet
and #85 starter jet
I was wondering if these would work in any of the early and later castings
Also, it looks like they brought in the VE91 carb on 95 a and up models
Any input appreciated, as I have a 91 TRX300 Fourtrax and dont have the VE90C model carb for it but I do have a couple VE90A and a few VE91C as well
and wanted to jet them correctly

Idle/running problems 2004 Traxter Max XT 500 autoshift

Hi folks. I’ve got a 2004 Traxter Max XT 500 autoshift with around 12,700k on it which starts okay, but won’t stay running at idle unless I turn the idle adjustment screw way up.

It will lope/bog at around 1/2 throttle.

My stepson rebuilt the carb for me – it was filthy – and accidentally broke the carburetor bowl heater element. Not excited about buying that $92.00 part. How much will that affect the running of the engine? It runs worse now than before, seems to be running real rich. I haven’t tried adjusting the mixture screw yet.

Also, from some searching on here, it looks like some folks have had problems not unlike mine when the fuel pump went out. I pulled the fuel pump, and I can blow into the inlet fine and it appears to hold vacuum when I suck – but on the outlet side, I have to suck real hard to get any air to come through the fuel pump. It will hold when I blow into it. The 3rd line to the manifold holds on suck or blow.

Should air flow come pretty readily when I suck on the outlet hose of the fuel pump, or would it just be a trickle like that?

I’m just trying to get some ideas where to start in order to get it up and running again.

So – how much does a disconnected heater element affect running, and does it sound like I need a fuel pump, and can I use any vacuum fuel pump with decent flow in order to save a few dollars? I saw this one on Ebay and I’m wondering if I can just use that if I can mount it up okay…

Fuel Petcock Flooded My Machine

I have an 07 660 Grizz. During the 6 years I’ve owned it, I’ve never turned the fuel off. I always leave it on and have had zero problems. A friend borrows my machine and I mention that you can leave the fuel on. He drops it off a few days later. I back it off the trailer and start driving up the driveway and it dies. He sez I turned the fuel off so it wouldn’t flood the crankcase. I turn on the fuel and drive it into the garage. The next morning the garage floor is covered in gas. The air filter box is full of gas. I drain the crankcase as its full of gas. I remove the spark plug and pull the starter rope and it blows a bunch of gas out of it. After changing the oil and filter as well as cleaning everything up, its back to running again. Now I’m afraid to leave the fuel on. Any idea what changed with the petcock, why it leaked fuel now and never in the past. Anyone ever have a similar experience?
