1999 Traxter won’t start

Hello All.
I bought a 1999 Traxter. Was told the starter was broken. I replaced the start and still won’t start. Sounds like when start is engaged it misses teeth while trying turn over motor. Lots of gas. It’s getting air. And spark. Fixed the pull start. When u pull it. Seems like there is to much resistance like it is binding on something. Really hard to pull. Not smooth at all. Can anyone help?

1999 traxter won’t start. Can anyone help?

Hello All. I am new to quadding. Never owed or really drove one before.
So I just bought a 1999 Bombardier Traxter 500. I was told it didn’t start and the starter was the problem. So I bought a new starter and installed it. Found out the hard way. Lol. Oil needed to be changed, as now most of it was on the ground. So now starter is changed. And still it sounds the same. It only turns overs or engages sometime like something is missing. Or grinding teeth. Missing where they want to go. Not sure I’m a welder not a mechanic but it doesn’t sound right when it misses teeth. It has lots of gas. It is getting air and is getting spark. I also fixed the pull start. Won’t start with the pull start either. When pulling the pull starter it seems like the motor is binding maybe. It’s really hard to pull. It acts like it want to start just something is missing. Can anyone help?

2016 Outlander 570L Short Term Review

Hello Everyone, I’m a new Can-Am owner as of September. I upgraded from a 92′ Big Bear 350 to the Outlander 570L. I’m going to share my experiences with the new machine with 800 miles on it so far just in case anyone is on the fence about buying one.
Throughout the initial "break in" period I was worried I had bought the loudest suspended machine on the market. Any time you hit a bump and had to use the suspension, it was extremely creaky and made tons of knocking noises when going over whooped out sections of the trail. I went along with it and figured everything just needed to be seated and worn a little before it would work to optimum peacefulness. I was right, and around 200 miles it settled right down and no more noises except on large bottoming hits. I had to up the preload on the front 2 clicks to prevent nose diving and bottoming when going through large whooped out sections. I only weigh 170 and still had to stiffen the preload up front.
The belt drive had a very annoying 90’s snowmobile roar to it when it was getting broken in. After the 10hr service where fluids and clutches were changed and adjusted it has quieted down some, but is still louder at cruising speeds above 25mph then other quads I’ve ridden.
The most notable thing that has occurred in my three months of owning the machine is the two green lights of death on the instrument cluster (lower right corner). I took it to the dealer and they stated that it was because water had gotten into the cluster which fried something and had to be replaced. At the same time this occurred I lost all back lighting to the cluster as a result, they replaced that under warranty. The machine is a standout performer engine wise and will top out to an indicated 70mph. I rode mostly wide open rail trails for long distances and the machine handles this well. It is also very agile in the woods and from my perspective couldn’t see why anyone would need power steering with steering this light, then again I’ve never rode one with power steering. At 800+ miles on it now I wouldn’t change my choice…

05 Sportsman 800 Transmission? Shifting? Help!!

Hello-

This morning I went out to plow my driveway of the new snowfall and everything was working fine. After a couple of passes, I went to shift from reverse to forward and there was nothing there. The shifter has zero resistance on it, I can move it back and forth but there is nothing engaging. Prior to this there was no grinding, ect. when getting it into gear, no sign of any issues. The clutch was just went through last spring and I have no issues to speak of with it. It was in AWD at that time if that matters.

Does anyone have any advice of what could be the issue? It just seems so odd that there was no sound, no grinding, and all of the sudden its just gone. For now, I have reversed it into my garage but I am not sure where to start as it seems it is internal. The shifting lever is still connected ect.

Thanks for any advice.

Jake

New member, first time Can-Am owner

Hey everyone! I bought my first Can Am about an hour ago. I pick it up late next week if I’ve got time, or the week after!

It was a leftover 2016 Outlander XT 850 in Matte Black/Octane Blue. I had the dealer put on OEM grip and throttle warmers, and a 6" wrap around rack for the back. Not sure what it’s called, but you can see it in the pics below.

I’ve ridden Hondas, Arctic cats, and Yamaha four wheelers. My 2009 Grizzly 700 has been phenomenal. I was nervous about pulling the trigger after reading about heat issues and the CVT noise that I’m not used to with my Grizzly. However I’ve always wanted a Can am after watching all the mudding YouTube videos of them!

Future plans are to out zillla tires on, left light bar, led headlights, some sort of exhaust, new hand guards and aluminum handle bar. That’s everything I can think of for now.

Here’s the bike!

After market axles…experience or ideas?

Seems like one of the rear axles on my 14 Sportsman XP850HO has some issues.
It is not rotating at the same rate as the other axle. I turned the hub by hand and something does not feel right. Broken CV joint or busted axle. I have not torn it apart…yet.

Has anyone had any experience with aftermarket axles?
Polaris wants $330. Others are available for lots less. Ya know…that long river in S. America!

Ideas? Experiences? Comments.

Thanks.

Carb issues?

I have a 2006 Grizzly 660 and I think it has carb issues. Here is what has been going on with it……

When I got the bike, it either had full choke or no choke and would run fine. When you moved the choke to anywhere in the middle it usually would shut off. It also would do a quick sputter on take off and then run fine. The sputter would happen from time to time on take off as well. I had a friend take off the carb to clean it up, he said it had crap in it and he cleaned it out. He replaced a few gaskets and put it back together.

When I got the bike back, all those issues above were gone. After riding the bike for a while, the throttle hung up high (like around 2K/2500 rpm) on me while riding it. I had to ride it back to holding the brake to keep it it a good riding speed. I shut the bike off and let it sit for 20 minutes and a friend rode it for a while and said there was no issues with it. I then took it on a longer ride and had no issues with it at all. Later that same day I rode it again and the throttle hung up again. I hasn’t happened since then, but I haven’t rode it that long either.

Last night I started it and let idle for 30 minutes and then took it for a ride. I was at 20mph and then went full throttle. When I did that the bike fell on its face and the "R" light was flashing. I let off the throttle and tried it again and it did the same thing. I then eased into the throttle and got it to 30mph then went full throttle and had no issues at all. I turned around to go back home and tried it again. At 15 mph then went full throttle and it fell on its face and the red "R" light flashed again. I then went up to 20mph and went full throttle and it fell on its face and the red "R" was flashing, but this time I did not let off the throttle for like 30 seconds and it did not take off. At no point did it miss fire or stall at all

Any help here would be great.

The bike has 117 hours and 920 miles on it. Engine is all stock.
