Electrical / high battery voltage

Once I got bike running this evening, tested battery again. 12.91 across terminals. Rev the bike up, and it goes to almost over 17 volts . I know somebody mentioned last week that that voltage would blow bulbs etc. but it hasn’t done so yet.

I went into diagnostics mode then and when I break about 3000 rpm, it jumps straight to 18volts. The battery light is flashing and the speedometer lights start to flicker.

Is this the voltage regulator?. Is it Hard to replace?. For sportsman 400.. 2005
Does this point to any other issue?

Thanks

Thank You !!

Just want to say a thank you to all that replied to my previous posts regarding starter/bendix/recoil unit etc.

Got new bendix/ starter today from DB Electric. Cleaned off flywheel, housing, pulse coil, stator (used air gun for most of the cleaning around the delicate items) . It was indeed a b*@#h to get the starter out, but I got it done without having to remove belt cover. Starter was dead. All back together now and starts with on the first pick of the key. Got new pull cird/handle also today from Polaris and installed. Half a pull and she’s off.

Thanks guys.

Rotella T6 rebate

I mentioned this in another thread but thought it could use a thread of it’s own. (I searched and didn’t see one already). A friend of mine at work yesterday told me that for a long time Shell has offered a $5.00 rebate per gallon on their Rotella oil. He said all he does is snap a pic of his receipt with his iPhone and upload it, then they mail him a check. Locally I can get it for $22.00 per gallon so it ends up at $17.00, just over $4.00 per quart. For the number of people on here that use the stuff I thought I would mention it. Maybe you all already utilize this but I hadn’t seen in talked about before.

Save $5 Per Gallon Rebate | Shell ROTELLA®

Had I known this I would have bought a gallon of it. I paid $14 for two quarts to do my 570. I am considering going to T6 in my Ferris mower next spring so I will probably start buying it by the gallon.
