bad battery drain

So I’ve narrowed it down to one set of wires coming of the starter solenoid. Its a trio consisting of two blue wires and a black. this set connects into the main wire harness. I’m wondering if any of you know what exactly these wire go to. I have no power to the pod or fuel pump with them disconnected. The drain on the battery is around 11 volts so it totally drains the battery in about a half an hour.
I’ve got two pics of the wire set. it connects to the top post on the solenoid with that other large red lead on top.

2013 Rancher skid plate

Last winter I installed a QuadBoss pile driver snow plow on my 420 Rancher 4×4. I removed the plastic skid plate to install the frame mount for the plow with the intentions of eventually getting a better skid plate. Does anyone know of any skid plates that are direct bolt on replacements that will match up with the QuadBoss snow plow mount? If not what brands has everyone went with and what modifications did you have to do to put a skid plate back on with the snow plow mount?

1999 335 ball joint stuck

I have a 1999 335 Sportsman. The ball joint is stuck in the bottom of the suspension strut. My Polaris dealer says the tool to remove it is no longer available. I’ve tried heating it with a torch etc. and can’t get it out. Does anybody know of a tool that will work for this or any other way to do this?
Thanks

Helmet hygiene

What does everybody else do? just went through some of mine, blew the spiders out, washed the mud off my sons, and cleaned the mouse nest out of a half helmet. Has a bad pea odor…mouse pee and mouse poop I suspect. That one got tossed, hate that, bought it at First ride at Brimstone in a rented Rhino. Had some dings on the surface, integrity might have been compromised also.

Just wondering what everybody else does? Some racers or former racers should be in the know.

Dan 2007 ATV in SW Colorado

Hello,

I recently sold my TW200 Yamaha Trailbike and purchased a 2007 Polaris X2 500 EFI HO from a person in Grand Junction, Colorado. I bought it as I decided that my wife would be safer on rough trails on the back of the ATV rather than the back of the bike as we are both retired.

The ATV is surprisingly more fun than I expected it would be and it is nice that it can also do some work. However, it has been a learning experience. We have been on two rides. The first ride we almost got stranded because of the throttle adjustment being wrong was sometimes shutting down the spark when stranded. I figured out how to properly adjust that before the 2nd ride.

On the 2nd ride I experienced a different problem. After riding for an hour or two with things getting fairly warm but no overheating lights and then stopping the ATV would not start. I checked and it had spark but did not have gas. After waiting for about 1/2 hour it would start again. Then as we reached the parking lot to load up on the trailer it stalled while running and the same thing — it would not start again. It would start for a second and then die. I checked the plug and it was dry and clean – no gas.

My wife is not afraid that we will get stranded on the next ride. So, here is what I have done so far — new plug (but that is not the problem), new air cleaner and pre-filter (but the old one was good), new fuel filter (but the old one was not restricted), checked the vent tube (not restricted), replaced the fuel pump (new one specs are 41psi), dumped all of the gas and will refill with high octane, replaced the heat shield on the bottom of the gas tank. I’m going to purge the exhaust. The coolant and radiator look to be good. The fan did come on a few times when stopping at idle.

I’m wondering what else I should check before I reassemble everything. I found a good price on an ECM and am thinking that perhaps I should replace that. I had a similar problem once with an XR650 Honda Motorcycle and it was the ECM (it was erratic). I also had the ECM fail on my snowmobile but when that happened it was dead (not erratic).

I’m sure that there is tons of knowledge on this forum so any thoughts that you have will be appreciated. The machine runs great when running and I just wish that the starting would be reliable. Also, I talked to the local dealer and there are not any recalls on that machine and they are not familiar with the problem nor did they offer any suggestions.

looking at 650 xt

hi all been away from this forum for a few years and need some input
I had a 2009 800r xt since new with no problems till 2012 when I tried one with power steering and had to have it … so I traded my 09 in and got a 2012 800xt it was great for one month and then nothing but problems (I think I had lemon) first clutch then bushings then power steering problems that they couldn’t fix and told me I had to wait for brp to come out with update to fix .
it spent the 4 out of 6 months I had it in shop , dealer would do nothing for me and as this was second machine I bought from them there was some disappointment .
I have been riding a grizzly 700 for the past few years and it has been reliable but the power is just not there no matter how many mods I do lol
now I would like to get new machine and I am looking at 650 xt or 850
the tight twisty trails we have here there is no need for a 1000 but do need the grunt of v twin

sorry for long post

does the 650 have good power ?
how is the power steering has there been many problems ?

thanks for your time
