New Guy Hello !

Hi

Just happy to be able to ride ATV’s. Love everything off-road and outdoors. Thanks for letting me join such a great forum. Chose a Kodiak for the smaller package but respect the Grizzly a great deal. Lots of really tight and narrow trails around here and the Kodiak is great at crawlin through them.

Cheers Everyone

I think I am going to swear

So – my 1999 Polaris Sportsman 500 has done it again……Grrrrrrr

so first it was the cam shaft, then rocker/compression relief, then starter bendix, now the stupid thing wont get any spark – drove fine last night, parked it, daughter went to start it just now and cranks and cranks, has fuel and I pulled the plug and grounded it to the chassis and no spark, so got another plug and grounded it and still no spark so – where do I start and what do I check to see where the spark might have failed to get from where it comes from and goes to the plug.

I do remember a small rectangular box under the front rack that had a yellow/yellow red wire coming out of it and of course there is what I presume is some kind of coil that the actual spark plug wire comes out of.

its molded in so I presume no connection issue there.

just got a 2008 Outlander LTD 800, hv Q’s pls :)

Hi everyone. I’m new to this site. I really like the cool pictures of wheelers, even tho there’s hardly any girls.

I just received a 2008 Outlander 800 limited. It’s suppose to have about 150 hrs on it, but I can’t figure out how to see the mileage and hrs on it as there is no button anywhere to push to get the modes to change. I’d like to go through and tune it up, change the oil, and do a fresh up, as much as I can, if I can. I rode it for about 3 hrs for the first time this past Saturday and had a blast! I have a Yamaha 450 and it’s nice, but this Outlander is like driving a Landcrusier compared to a Corolla! LOL. I drive a Corolla, so. 🙁

I have changed the oil, filter, gear oil, plugs and air filter on my Yamaha before, so I’m hoping I can do the same on this Outlander, myself. I called the local dealer and they want a fortune to do the things I’d like to get done. I’m on a very tight budget. I don;t even know if I can afford this Outlander. LOL!

I was left the following new BPR brand items, purchased this year:
1- oil filter Part # 420256188
2- NGK spark plugs # 4339 DCPR8E
1 – qt of synthetic gear oil 75w-140. It has rear righten on it.
1 – qt of synthetic gear oil 75w-90. It has front written on it.
1 – brake fluid DOT 4

The oil was changed about a year ago, and I was told it was only ridden once since then for about 2 hrs. Should I change it, or leave it alone, IDK? I don’t have any oil because I don’t know what to get. I found a receipt for AMSOIL, 3 quarts, for $43.36. I’m guessing that’s what’s in it now. It looks very clean, even after the 3 hrs I rode it Saturday.

I’m not sure what the belt should look like or when to change it. I’m not sure what else to do to it. Everything is original. It has some zip up cargo like bags but they’re kind of worn and dirty as heck, and one zipper doesn’t work. I have a manual for it. It only has one key. The GPS doesn’t come on, not sure if it needs to charge, didn’t come with a charger.

Everything is in great working order. The only thing that’s broken is the right side hand guard, but I think there’s a new one somewhere. I think there’s a new key too, but I was told that I wold have to have a dealer program it. IDK?

Anyway, I guess I sound like I’m clueless about this bike; Well, I am. I really love the way it rides and feels. It’s so awesome! It’s a lot of machine for me, but I really feel safe on it. I rode it through a river and got stuck. It took me a while to float it out, but I made it okay. Kinda scary, but really FUN!:clapsmilie:

I hope I can get some information from this site to help me get this thing serviced correctly. I don’t want to mess it up, and besides, I like everything to be in top shape!

Thanks everyone for your help! :yahoo:

2016 air filter question

Hey guys trying to figure out part number for the plastic end cap on the 2016 air filter element. I ordered number 9 on the diagram witch is part number b16-E4450-00 it’s labeled element assembly but it only cam with the cage not the plastic removable end cap with the little foam gasket that presses against the air box if you look at the diagram there is no number next to the plastic end cap so I assumed it would come with the entire assembly, can any one help me out i would be very thankful.
