…never deal with an unreliable Polaris Sportsman ignition again…

OK guys, check this out. This can solve ALOT of problems for you!

There was a run of Sportsman 600’s and 700’s from 2002 to mid 2006 that were plagued with electrical problems and failure of the ignition system was a matter of when, not if.

The AC powered ignition was the Achilles’ Heel of an otherwise stone reliable ATV. Unfortunately, the price to replace with an upgraded Polaris kit was well over $500 and it was your only option.

With our new Ignition Fix Kit, we convert your problematic 2002/2003/2004 Sportsman 600/700 AC ignition to a much more reliable DC ignition at less than half of the price of the Polaris upgrade kit.

Our upgrade kit consists of a new CDI and a remote coil, all required wiring, and installation instructions that allow pretty much anyone to get the job done without professional help. This kit uses the heavier windings of the lighting coil to power the ignition… the problematic section of the stator is no longer used, and the new secondary ignition coil is isolated from the CDI in contrast to the integral coil/CDI that comes from the factory. The result is more reliability, better spark, and easier diagnosis should you have another problem in the future.

Less money ! Less time ! More bang for your bucks !

Powersteering ez-steer

Just a update on adding ez steer to 2016 570
It definitely fits and works. The only thing different from the directions is how to mount the ecu. No splash guard to remove and use that hardware. You have to get your own hardware.

Where are the oversized pistons!

Hey campers! My son’s 94 Fourtrax (200 TRX D type 2) is getting the cylinder honed due to scoring after an abrupt oil loss. The machine shop wanted me to get an oversized piston (0.25 mm) before the actual honing occurs.

However…

I am able to find said piston, I think. However, the corresponding rings seem to be eluding me.

The stock cylinder ID is supposed to be 65.000-65.010 mm.
the stock piston OD is supposed to be 64.962-64.982 mm.

So I hope I am using the right measurement when I am using the cylinder OD. It would be 65.25 mm?

Anyone know where I can find oversized rings to go with this?

Thanks!

Hey PolarisATVForums, I’m Evan from RM Stator!

Hey all!

I’m excited to be joining the forum, and looking forward to talking with you you guys about electrical stuff, and our products.

I’m Evan, I’m an Electrical Engineer for RM Stator located in Fort Collins, Colorado. I have over 10 years experience in motorcycle electrical systems, including charging, ignition, and lighting. I’ve got years of off-road riding on dirtbikes, dual-sports, quads, and SxS’s. I recently moved here to Colorado from California, where I spent most of my free time in the deserts out east of San Diego. I’m also a big street motorcycle rider, usually averaging almost 15k miles on a motorcycle yearly. If it has an engine, you can assume I’m interested in it.

RM Stator is an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of high quality powersports electrical components, in business for over 25 years. We build stators, voltage regulator rectifiers, MOSFET regulators, ignition coils, keyswitches, wiring harnesses, and more. We’re always interested in developing NEW products, so if you have a great idea, don’t hesitate to share and be involved in the development and testing process.

Anyways, back on topic. I’m certainly here to advertise RM Stator products, since I wholeheartedly believe we have the best quality control, innovative products, and customer support & service in the industry, and I want to share that with people. In our vendor forum here, I’ll be posting about our specific products that are of interest to Polaris owners, as well as other related things I think might be useful.

I’m a busy guy, with a ton of work to do, but I’m going to do my best to participate in the forum for electrical related discussions, hopefully help you guys to test and troubleshoot electrical problems on your bikes. One thing I’m good at is getting to the bottom of electrical issues, and explaining how things work.

So, let’s get started! Can’t wait to talk with you guys and hopefully meet some of you! Anybody who want’s to go ride in Northern Colorado, don’t hesitate to shoot me a PM!

I’d like to begin by offering a 10% discount code to members of Polaris ATV Forums. I haven’t set a time limit on this, it will be good for a couple months at least while I kick things off here. It is good for a 10% discount on ANY product on the RM Stator website, 1 use per customer.

Looking for honest opinions on Rancher

First off, first post, so hello. Eastern Canada here.

So, have a 2010 Brute 650i. Been a great bike, for the first 2/3 of ownership I was riding with a guy who I got along with great, same style, liked to ride and not stand around for hours talking and drinking beer. So, racked up the miles….but I don’t regret any of them. I’m lucky enough to have several club’s trail systems within a 30-minute trailer from home, and I can leave from the camp on the bike and be on a couple of them in short order….hence, a shade over 10,000 kms on a 2010 ATV

Thinking on a new bike, and the summer deals that I see advertised are looking pretty good. We have pretty rough, rocky trails around here, and having just had the typical mid-40’s rotator cuff rebuild back in January, I’m thinking the power steering will be a very welcomed feature.

Alone, I’ll have no trouble downsizing to a 420. It will have more than enough power to haul me around, and I have no need for speed…would much rather enjoy the ride.

My question is with riding 2-up. And….don’t take this the wrong way, but with 10,000 km on the current bike and a fair portion of it being 2-up, I am aware of the safety concerns and adjustments in riding that need to be made when you have someone in a lay-z-boy sitting behind your rear axle. So, safety and stability concerns aside…..will the 420 have enough snort to 2-up? I’m about 220, and so is the passenger.
When riding 2-up it’s easy riding, relatively flat trails, dirt roads, and ‘maintained’ trails…usually it’s the Mrs on the back, and the little dog sitting in the side compartment of the 2-up seat…so pretty tame riding. If we do get to a nasty washout or any steep climbs, I stop and the passenger walks. I err on the cautious side, as a result, 10,000kms incident-free.
With no passenger I often end up on slightly tougher trails or off-trail exploring….for that sort of use, I’m sure the 420 is just fine.

Comparing apples to apples….the Brute has no performance mods, no lift (except the inch gained by flipping the rear hubs upside down), and stock 25’s (but upgraded to Bighorns).

Obviously a 420 isn’t a 650-twin and I don’t expect it to be. But I’d like to be sure that it would have the grunt to be able to ride 2-up around the camp, through some easy trails, take a few dirt roads to the country store for an ice-cream in the evening, etc.

Another thing…I think I saw some threads on 27’s, or bigger…can I assume that there will be no issues (clearance-wise) with tossing the …24’s?? that it comes with and putting 25" Bighorns on it without having to lift, heat, bent, space…..anything?

There you have it. Can’t wait to hear the results.

Oh, and yes….I could buy a Rincon…but I’m liking the Rancher….for now.
