2014 Rancher 12-volt Outlet Install

I decided to look into installing a 12-volt outlet on my Rancher today and to my surprise it was much easier than I expected. I had read elsewhere on this forum that you have to remove the front rack and some plastics but I found that not to be necessary, at least with the 12-volt outlet I had laying around, and the wiring harness already under the radiator access cover (I’m not sure which models/years have this).

I drilled a hole in the location that’s designed for an outlet and tightened the outlet’s nut on the back side. Then snipped the Honda wiring connector under the radiator access cover and ran the outlet’s wires to there and crimped them together. By turning the handle bars to the right I was able to get my hand on the back side of the outlet and tighten the nut and push the wires to the wiring harness.

This is the outlet I had purchased for another use but worked well for this application. It didn’t come with an inline fuse so I borrowed one of those from somewhere else.
