XP/XP4 1000 Cooling Tube Rubbing Frame

I was recently doing some work on my car and found one of the aluminum cooling tubes rubbing on the frame. It is at the transition from hose to tube, right above the frame, above the steering assembly. There is one of those crappy plastic cooling tube clamps, but it was not holding the tube above the frame.

I pried the tube assembly gently upward and inserted a piece of tubing between the two prongs of the clamp to buffer from the frame. I’ll keep an eye on it to make sure it stays in place. I don’t think the rubber hose inserted will go anywhere as it was a real pain to get in there!

Anyway, this find could have averted a most untimely coolant leak in the future! Check your tubes, make sure they are where they are suppose to be.

Also, for those that haven’t checked the various locations, under the drive train tunnel, you should pull that skid plate and make sure those are zip-tied in place as those tubes will pop out of those cheap clamps. I did that a year ago before ever taking the car out and they were just floating there next to the drive shaft.:ride:
