Winches and Water……these things probable don’t play well togather?
Disclaimer……I bought a Harbor Freight Badlands 2500 Winch. This thread is not intend to discuss/bash this particular winch. Just using this model in thread as it is what I own.
Hey, I just picked up one of those discount Badlands 2500 winches for my Honda Rancher 400. Just need to raise/lower a snow plow. Got a universal mounting plate. Took the winch out to my bike to see where it might fit. Was originally thinking of installing in typical mounting position, under the front plastic to the frame.
Me and the kids are not shy about running thru a creek or large puddle, keeping water to at or below the floor boards. Checked the manual of winch and no where does it list water proof/resistant. Thinking mounting on my front rack maybe a better option. Assume I am not alone with this situation. Was wondering what has worked for others (I just set myself up for a bash/criticism to have bought a better winch, I know…I can hardly sleep at night due to my bad choice..lol).
Am I making to big of an issue of the water? Just changed out the windshield wiper motor on my van (water got into the motor and corroded everything up), this got me thinking water and motors don’t play well together.
