Following closely all the hype of the new Yamaha sport sxs. I really like my 14xp1k and it has been relatively dependable but like everyone else’s I’ve had to replace a lot of things that should last longer. Wheel bearings twice, Tie rod ends twice, brake pads once, belt 3 times first lasted 1500 miles, injector wiring plugs, bushings replaced with super daves, and other small issues. tires didn’t last long and replaced with rocktanes but thats normal . My biggest issue is the lack of warranty support with know issues . Front driveshaft sounded like it was going to fall out at any minute but after 1500 miles of so it has quoted down substantially, Timing chain rattle at start up still concerning and people waiting forever for voltage regulators although I unplugged mine cleaned the plug and used dielectric grease and haven’t had a problem since but still worries me with so many having a problem. seems like there are always plenty of parts for the assembly line but always on back order for warranty. Same issues since 2011 when I bought my first rzr and have owned 3 since . Seems Polaris just never learns that customer support is everything to a lot of people me for one. Since the RZR has been the premier machine you either had to put up with it or do without. i have owned several Yamaha products and not one single time have I ever had a support issue. Mostly because I didn’t need much as everything was extremely dependable and well built.
That said I will be watching closely what they come out with but more than likely not jump in initially until the original release works out the bugs and aftermarket products are developed like seats and such.
But I will be watching. Maybe with some real competition Polaris will learn their biggest fault is themselves and serious support issues .
I may not even like what they come out with but like a lot of others hoping they hit a home run. a lot of rumors and speculation but its sure looking like a true competitor is about to put some real pressure on Polaris.
We’ll know for sure in a couple of weeks.
What do you plan to do? Stick with Polaris or jump to big Blue?
