Came across this forum via a Google search. Found some similar threads on the topic, but nothing that was exactly the same, and I didn’t want to hijack someone else’s thread.
Have a 2015 Rancher (TRX420). Bought a Warn Winch kit and Honda mount. Dealer wasn’t able to supply me with instructions, so I looked around online. Got the assembly wire harness as well.
In the setup, I have the grey relay box mounted to the frame (near the riders left knee). Black ground cable running to a frame spot in the back. Red cable running to the battery (starter). Blue and yellow cables running to the winch.
The 2 smaller leads (green and black) running off of the relay box are going into the winch sub harness. The sub harness hooked up to the winch switch and to the assembly wire harness (which is plugged into the dlp). There appears to be only one spot in the instructions that the assembly wire harness plugs into the winch sub harness. In reading other threads in this forum, it looks like the other 2 wires I have coming from the assembly wire harness are if I want to add something else (like handle bar warmers). So since I don’t have a use for them now, I am thinking of "closing those off".
So I double checked and triple checked my color connections. The grey relay box mounted to the gram is making a clicking noise when I hit the winch switch. Any thoughts on why this might be happening?
Side question. Why does the winch switch have to go to the dlp in some fashion? I would think that the winch switch could go directly to the relay switch (mounted on the frame).
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Newbie on this forum, so please be patient with me. 🙂
I can send pictures of my setup if it would help at all.
Thanks!
