UTVs and retirement

I retired the first of the year 2013 and cannot imagine what life I would have without my 570. I had tried to buy property in NV before my retirement to have an established place to live but the condition of my father and the logistics of moving prevented that, and a life of doing nothing but fishing really didn’t appeal to me. But I needed something to do and since I have a history of racing Motocross and riding off road I felt a motorcycle was the answer.
Ummm no. Yes I could still ride but was so afraid of falling, and since my balance aint what it used to be, I needed to find something different. My thanks to the guys who had RZRs out where I was riding and I thought I would look into it. But after a trip to a local dealer and seeing the price tag of a 900XP, I got discouraged. Could not afford that on my pension, but I did some research and saw the 570 was affordable so I went to the dealer, who btw had one and I made an offer. He countered the offer and I accepted.
Anyway with my experience racing motorcycles, karts and dirt track ovals in cars, I was hoping this would fill my need for speed and off road riding and by god it did!
For the past almost 3 years I have got so much enjoyment of the riding and capabilities of the 570. I have met so many new friends, rode some fantastic places like Moab and many others in SoCal, and have had the time of my life.
And so many of my new friends are retired like me so we have a common bond of being old farts who still kick ass.
Just because you get old doesn’t mean you need a retirement home. My retirement home is in my RZR ad when I cant drive any more……….put a bullet in me!
