Found a guy out in the Dunes trying to install his replacement belt but he couldn’t find the tool that spreads the rear pulley to help him get the belt on. We made sure all the previous belt material was removed from the clutches/ rear pulley and then we proceeded to put the new belt completely over and around the front pulley and then halfway around the lower half of the rear pulley as far as we could; removed all hands and fingers away from the belt area and he started the motor and put it in low as we pushed the car forward the belt sprang over the top of the rear pulley and all was good. Is this a common fix or was there a good chance of damaging the drive train? We’ve done it a couple of times on a regular XP1000 in the past as well with no ill effects.
