Did I make a mistake?

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum. I just picked up a 2016 matte sunset red XP turbo brand new from a dealership here in Utah. Before my new ride I owned a 2014 XP 1000. Loved it zero issues. My question is did i make a mistake buying the new turbo? When I read through this XP turbo section I see quite a bit of threads that are about problems with the turbo. Overheating, clutch, axles popping out ect. Should i have waited for the 2017 turbos hoping they have the bugs worked out? I havent had a chance to get mine out yet cause of the snow here so it has zero miles on it. I dont know if these machines are hit and miss with problems or what but i am a little nervous for my first ride. I mainly ride mountains and the dunes. The dunes has me the most nervous with the overheating issue. Dont mean to be negative but when i read all the issues it concerns me a bit. Thanks.

DIY 4″ CVT Filter

I’m not happy at all that my primary drive clutch in the CVT system was badly worn at only 500 miles. Polaris did a goodwill gesture as they call it and giving me a new primary, and my dealer tells me that there’s a 0% chance that they’ll do that a second time. So this is my first step in trying to make it last longer this time. I used two four-inch couplings and a 4 inch dryer hose from Lowe’s ($20), and a $20 air filter from Amazon. I just realized yesterday that an oiled air filter isn’t going to be good for the CVT system, so I’m going to get a dry filter. They cost about 50 bucks. I’ll then throw the $20 one on the engine intake side. The first coupler installs in the top of the bed. It slides right in with no trimming, and there is a lip in the center of it that keeps it from pulling through. I marked the bottom side with a pen so I could drill some holes in it using self tapping sheet metal screws on my bench. I then took the screws out and put the coupler back in the bed and installed the screws on the bottom side to hold it in place. That way there’s no modification to the bed at all. The second coupler goes in the CVT cover, and I trimmed a V out of it so it doesn’t shroud any air going in there. I used gorilla tape to hold the coupler to the CVT housing, and then I put the 4 inch flex hose over both couplers and hose clamped them on. The hose clamps have to be very tight to keep the hose from pulling off. The stock rubber hose is 4 inches at the CVT cover and 3 inches at the bed. That doesn’t seem like good engineering to me so that’s the reason for going 4 inch all the way through. Now I just need to get the suspension crossed up and see if the tire rubs on the hose or not. If it does, then I will find a 45° 4 inch coupler to use at the CVT cover.

My New XPT

So after 2 years of reading through this forum I finally got all my ducks in a row and was able to pick up my velocity blue turbo. Drove it home and first thing was to test fit it in my weekend warrior. It clears just fine with my poly roof so I don’t have to do a cage chop right away; I’ll be waiting to buy a full cage in the next few months. Only mods so far have been the roof, tusk anchors, a-pillar lights and the highlifter tow hook-cleanest looking one in my opinion. This weekend will be its maiden voyage out in Westpoint, Tn. I can’t wait!! :ride:

Aftermarket Axels

Has anyone upgraded their axels yet? I broke one this weekend at the dunes, luckily the store had a Rhino axel in stock to repalce the broken one. Would like to upgrade the other side as well. Are Rhinos good? Is there a better brand? Plan on just replacing just the rears, as i don’t use 4wd that much in the sand. Thanks

RAZR Turbo Wheels

Hey guys! New member and first time posting so I’m sorry if this is discussed elsewhere. Still new to the site and app. I have a 16 turbo. I want to upgrade to 15" wheels so I can put a regular A/T tire on. My question is: What size can I go up to? The wheels will only be 15×7 unless anyone knows of something a bit wider. Thanks
