Well I got everything squared away with the rubicon i bought a couple weeks ago, I thought.
Idled ok but At high speed/throttle she would brake up sputter backfire, thought i had a lean condition, float, jets, er carb issue basically. Was gonna order a kit before i took it off but didnt get to it right away. But did clean tank, took off petcock and blew it all out, installed inline filter, checked cap and vent tube. So anyhow had seat off and night before i shut fuel and ran it till quit. Today go to start after turning fuel on and ng. I noticed the filter empty, turn petcock every which way for sanity, then pull fuel line off carb and nada. Blow into tank and get slow flow. Ugh, pull tank again and take out petcock again, everything looks ok. Notice that fuel knob is not how i am used to. Ruby has it with the fuel down and reserve up, so i change that around to fuel up and res down, and then knowing something aint right i cut that screen off since i am running a filter now. Sure enough runs like a raped ape now. Must be some kinda surface tension on that fine screen in tank or maybe oxidization i cant see with these older eyes, glad i said screw it and cut it off. I wonder if anyone else chases a lean problem to no avail cuz the screen looks ok. Anyone else ever had poor flow from tank with good venting or even w the cap off? I did.
