First, thanks to everyone for the help recently. It certainly helped the install last night. Anyway, thought I’d share my install. I replaced my original Polaris 2500# winch with the Terra 35. I wanted to try and use the Polaris mount and it did work…with some slight modification. The Polaris mount was the original when I bought the machine new in 2012 (550 XP EFI). First, I had to install the Terra upside down and 180 degree from the orig Polaris to insure the cable is coming in under the spool. This of course made the wiring go to the driver left side. The Terra 35 does not fit the orig Polaris mount without some slight modifications. On the front inside of the mount there are 2 welded on nuts that were going to be in the way of sliding the Terra in. These will not be used on this install, so I used my angle grinder to cut out. A little hard to get the grinder in there, but I was able to cut half way through and chiseled it out the rest of the way…it was pretty easy. You can see the holes where they were from in the front view pic under the fairlead. Next, the Terra housing was about 1/8" too big to slide into the mount. The only parts that would impact this were the excess body on top of the winch where the bolts go across the spool. After eyeing it up, I realized I could hit those parts (4 total) with a bench grinder and it fit. You can see this from the 2 side views. It was a tight fit, but with some gentle hammering, it slide through. I did have to make sure the carriage bolts for the fairlead were in BEFORE sliding the winch in. There is not enough room to put them in after the winch is in. So, now I’m hooked up with the Terra 35 and hope it works as well as everyone says! Just thought this install might help someone in the future! Happy Trails!!
